Beat you too it and yes it is. In fact my parts guy is looking into getting the parts as we speak. He says he has done it before and its no worse then if you ordered US parts: parts for //Ms arn't just sitting around and whether you order Japanese spec parts, Euro or NA parts, they call come from the same place, so to order a U.S. spec spring will cost no more than a Japanese Spec spring.

Will confirm in the next day or so.

But assuming the springs are different, we'd still need the JPN-spec bump stops and shocks, since those are different from US-spec ones. Marrying JDM springs to our shocks would be no better than getting aftermarket springs at that point, right?

As far as I know. Only the springs and shocks are different. Everything else (including bumpstops) are the same.

No, not yet. He is going to play with the system tomorrow and get me prices and shipping times; he did it once for some euro car that was shipped over here by a guy who moved here and needed some part....but he couldn't remember exactly how he configured things so it let him. He will get me prices, etc.........if you guys then need it and no one else will do it, he can order a bunch for anyone interested. I wish my car was here, cause if it was I would have no problem being the guinea pig for the 1st installation. If you guys don't do anything before my car gets here this spring, I will do it.

Cheers,

Which brings up the biggest question: what measurable number that is available can one look at to compare two shocks? I don't know, that is why I am asking.....we can do spring rates and frequencies to compare springs, but what info can we get that will allow such a comparison between shocks? Its the only way to really know whether one would have to change the shocks to avoid premature wear/failure upon replacing our NA OEM spec springs with Japan OEM spec springs.

UPDATE!!!!

Ok guys, I need the last 7 digits of a VIN from a Japanese car. You do that, and I will have all of the information everyone wants, plus the ability to get everyone pricing on parts, installation and delivery times.

Please, anyone who knows a member with a Japanese M3, please PM them, get the last 7 digits of their VIN, and PM me the info.

Cheers,
Mark

I'm running around today but will PM him tonight and beg him for the last 7 of his VIN. I even went onto the Japanese E-Bay last night but couldn't find any M3s for sale except for one, which was in fact a U.S. spec car listed on the U.S. E-Bay as well. Course, I had to guess what I was looking for cause I can't read japanese

Also will have spring rates and compression rates on the shocks/struts for your guys

Cheers,
Mark

Here is a bad picture...but give you idea on JDM spec M3 ride height on fronts.

It is very slightly lower than the US spec cars, but not good enough to have nice stance on fronts...
10mm drop helps the apperance but not much as most people want to spend expensive OEM parts.

To resolve issue, we will be releaseing JDM spec OEM EDC shocks and springs package(front and rear) with slightly increased drop on the fronts.
Since we are at the stage of R&D, we can't say for sure how much addtional drop it will be on the fronts but we are working on it.

That's ALL I can give for any details at this point, I will post up the real "facts" once we have finished testing/fitting/ect.
Give us 4-5 weeks, we will be back with some good news.

glad to hear that you guys are working on a spring and shock kit. I am a bit confused though. it will be OEM, but you are lowering it more? Are you shortening the springs only? or will there be non OEM front shocks?

looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Due to many reasons, we can't release any details yet.
But it will use OEM shocks and OEM springs.
