Cost of 1200 mile service in Germany?
Just like the title says, what is the cost of the 1200 mile service for e9x M3 in Germany. I'm talking about US spec cars through military sales. Thanks.

I have a DCT & bought the engine oil & brought it to them. It was around $220 or 147Euro, but I had them put on my spacers. Probably somewhere around $190 or 127 Euro without the spacers - No Joke. It's expensive. If you don't bring your oil to them and have a manual, tack on an additional $200 minimum. Oil on the economy is nuts.

Thanks, that's not that bad as the Inspection 1 service on my wife's X3. They quoted me 450 Euro (with oil, parts included), which is nothing but a glorified oil change. I'm debating if I shouldn't do it myself. SA said it would be less if I bring a VAT form. He also said I can bring my own oil, filter, air filter, but I asked him where I get it, and he said in parts department or local auto stores.

The cheapest route through the local German dealer would be to bring all of your own fluids, purchased from AAFES, with a VAT form.
I did my own initial service for the ultimate in "cost-effectiveness". I do have a contact that can get my service in to the system and have the service book "pre-stamped" for convenience. I am trying think if there is anything I can plan ahead for as I head to CONUS for a TDY next week....

I know this is an old thread but Bavarian Autosport has Lubro Moly 10W-60 and ships to APOs. Two 5-liter jugs with shipping is $108.65. If I can't find the M1 (my personal favorite) locally I'm going to give these guys a try.
They have the Castrol for $11.95/qt as well. |

Anyone know how much the service is for the manual since it needs the tranny fluid R&Rd? It doesn't seem like that fluid will be too bad if the DCT service is only ~150 Euro if you brig your own engine oil but buy the dealer's diff fluid.
If anyone's got a breakdown or has a manual and has numbers that would awesome. Thanks! Paul |

Make sure your service rep knows that they have to change the tranny fluid on your manual. My rep had to email Munich to confirm that it was required at break-in. I also recommend ordering your oil and filter from Bavarian Autosport. Cheaper than AAFES even with shipping factored in. |

Rumor has it that some vendors will send oil to an APO (and domestic addresses).
I have sent my own fluids with a "creative" completion of the customs form.

You also need diff fluid and if you have a manual you'll need tranny fluid as well. Those won't be cheap. I ordered all my fluids from BAV (I'll have enough tranny fluid to do the next tranny service as well) and with shipping it was $471.50.

Volvo gets free routine service through European military sales too....not enough of an incentive to get one though.....
If you want to play...you gotta play.

No one. It's all ridiculously overpriced over here. BAV is cheaper by far than anyone over here.
Also, the service cost for the labor alone was 144 Euro. I prrovided everything listed above so the overall total with fluids and labor was about $671 with almost a liter of diff fluid and about two and a half liters of tranny fluid left. |

I am not sure if the US vendors would ship to Greece due to import duties. We can get away with it in Germany as the items are coming to a "US address" within the military postal system, so no duties are charged.
