Will 18x10.5 +22 w/ 275 rub at front?
Good day all!
Title says it all. I'm thinking of going squared with 18x10.5 +22 and 275/35/18 on all 4 for my '11 e93. Anyone has any experience with this setup? I tried searching a thread, but most that I see is feedback on 10 with 275/285. Thanks, Last edited by ioric18; 04-02-2017 at 05:32 PM.. Reason: need clarification |

My rims are 18 x 10.5 +21 on 275/35/18 squared setup. The inner fender rubs very slightly on full lock. You can fit them, you are just 1mm closer to the strut compared to me.

Are you on stock strut or aftermarket? Also, did you lower the springs? I'm currently on stock at the moment, but plan to drop an inch or so later, so I'm curious will I be stuck with my current height if I were to go the square route. |

It really depends on the tire. For example, Hankook RS4's (and I assume RS3) are .3" wider in 275/35/18 than NT01's. I'm thinking about going this same route myself. I was at the track the other day and test fit someone's 10.5x18et27 wheels with 275 NT01s and the wheel was just touching my suspension (JRZ RS2's lowered about .75" from non-ZCP height) when the car was jacked up. Based on that, I'm thinking a 10.5x18 et22 would fit nicely (should give me ~4-5mm clearance on the strut).

That is too short my friend. 275/35-18 is the correct size.
OP, 275/35-18 extreme summer tires will fit very nicely on an 18x10.5" ET22 square fitment, however the front could benefit from a touch of additional negative camber to prevent rubbing the fender edge under compression. If you plan on tracking the car with this setup (I am assuming you are if you're running a 10.5" square fitment), then purchasing adjustable camber plates should be at the top of your list for more reasons then just fitment/fender clearance. At full lock you are going to rub the liners a touch, but after some time they tend to "self clear" and no major damage will come of this. Keep in mind, KW coilovers (variants or clubsports) will not play friendly with an aggressive fitment like this (they limit inner clearance and will cause interference). Inner strut clearance with suspensions like JRZ & MCS will still be tight, but do-able. If the suspension utilizes helper springs, you will want to remove them in effort to get the spring perch above the tire for maximum clearance. Here was my setup before I sold the car - APEX ARC-8 Hyper Silver - F. 18x10.5 et27 w/ 5mm spacers (ET22) - R. 18x10.5 et27 w/ 10mm spacers (ET17) - Dunlop Direzza Star Spec ZII 275/35/18 - Motion Control Suspension (MCS) 1WNR Dampers - Swift Springs F: 440 / R: 660 - Ground Control Race Camber Plates - Ground Control Rear Spring Perches - Bimmerworld Adjustable Endlinks - Camber: F -2.8* / R -1.8* - Toe: F 0 / R .4* in

OEM suspension has more inner clearance than most aftermarket systems because the spring resides above the tire. Outside clearance will be the bigger concern. You need some camber - see above - most are running at least -2.8 with that fitment. That requires camber plates

Most enthusiasts seeking to run an aggressive 18x10.5" ET22 square setup are also going to invest in a set of adjustable camber plates to ensure they not only have enough negative camber dialed in to prevent rubbing, but more importantly to ensure they get the most performance and longevity out of their tires. Camber plates pay for themselves very quickly and present a host of benefits. Do you plan to track the car with this setup? If so, we can get you set up with a set of Ground Control adjustable camber plates in addition to the wheels. - Ryan

FWIW, I have Sachs Performance coilovers and there is room for a 275/30-19 (or more) under the spring at 1/4" lower than ZCP height
So there are a few aftermarket setups that allow clearance out of the box I think a 275/35-18 on a 10.5 ET22 up front is an easy fit on stock suspension with pins pulled for most true street tires (maybe the Ad08, RS4 or something else that is running super-wide and square could cause issues, but a PS4S or Conti Sport, easy peasy). There's plenty of room for those tires on a 10" ET25 and the 10.5 ET22 only moves inside a few mm. This suspension like most decambers a lot on compression so even though it will poke out a bit you're never going to hit the fender itself I think he's just saying they'll wear better with 2.5-3 degrees rather than the <2 you can get at stock height, but that's true of any tire setup But the only way to be sure is to do it, worst case you've got a spare pair of rears!
