im dreaming

i think i am in the same boat as some of you. i am reluctant to do any engine or exhaust mods due to the possibility of reduced warranty, gas mileage, or an increase in codes and overall problems with the car. i would like to add a center section with hfc's that removes the secondary cats and a set of resonators, and do a tune to get that extra 30-40 hp and a better sound and remove that top speed limiter. what i dont want is to spend that money and be sorry i did because of increased problems shortly after. is there a magic setup that can give me a minimum of issues and still provide the extra hp and sound? oh and be a true bolt on so i can do it at home.

Sounds like the full Dinan setup is what you're looking for.

not much increase in power with that though is there and costs quite a bit so not much of a point? tune is only good for 10hp from them isnt it?

Just as much power as everything else, +-5 hp. The only setup that will give you significant improvementover Dinan is the full catless Gintani setup, but your car will be super loud.

Remember Dinan is full catless as well, so you will see a significant improvement. Since you are worried about warranty and issues, Dinan is the only way to go. In my experience all other companies even though more attractively priced, will leave you hanging if things go wrong.

okay gotcha the full race center section. dinan doesnt warranty the car for that though as its off road only. do they have a hfc option? isnt their tune also a lot more conservative than most?

What can go wrong with a pipe? Nothing. So I wouldn't worry about that. In regards to the tune, yes it is more conservative than others, but you can't have everything. Either its conservative and peace of mind, or all out power and slight risk of getting fucked. It's up to you.

I chose the "I might get fucked" option, but like I said everyone's different.

does dinan clear the codes for you when they keep coming up or does the tune fix that?

how much is each worth for hp. you get about 20 for hfc and x pipe and 10-20 for the tune? who makes the best hfc/x-pipe combo for a decent price?

All the good ones run about 2k-2.5k for the xpipe + HFC.

For x-pipe I'd pick Gintani, and for the muffler, that is up to you on what type of sound and how much drone/loudness you can handle

honestly I would just get the Gintani X Pipe or RPi X Pipe with the Powerchip tune. More likely than not you will never have a single problem. This engine can withstand a lot more than people think. It hasn't been tuned to its limits by the engineers in Bavaria, so don't be too worried about complications with a tune and an X Pipe.

what is the downside even if i dont get codes? worse gas mileage, piss off the neighbors, flat spot in some range? just trying to make sure i dont regret a big expense.

Still feel the exact same way. Can't wait to get in a drive her. The exhaust smell is there, but not an issue for me. To be honest, my wife could do without it.

Don't know. Never experience HFC's on an E92. All I know is the setup I went with still blows me away!!! And by the way, I'd put my car up against any bolted on E92 out there. I've read all kinds of thread on how other tuners blow Dinan away, but I'd like to see someone prove it. I honestly think my Dinan modded car will stack up against anyones NA car.

you blowin smoke? i was thinking of a hfc set up and someones tune. probably good for 10 less hp than the full race pipes? i imagine the dinan stage 2 or race tune would work with the hfc set up.
