Stock E90 M3 Dyno Results

I took a baseline dyno today with a DynoJet and the numbers looked pretty solid from what I see. I am doing a bunch of bolt-on's and software next week so we will get a 'before' and 'after' comparison. Enjoy.

Niice run!! I got 343/252 but it was in high humidity and I think it was 97 degrees.

Best stock dyno plot I have seen. It has everything I like to see on a plot including A/F ratio. It is SAE corrected so none of that mattered. You can see the correction factor was .97 so if it was uncorrected he would have made more HP. Since he is in NC I am sure he is on 93 octane.

Gotcha. I wonder how much difference it was 91 octane vs. 93 octane...

I've come to the conclusion that it makes a big difference 91 to 93 octane and we know that more than 93 octane can probably make more power as well.

I'm pissed. I can't find my Dynojet page. It had all that info as well. I can only find the pic I took of it and I idioticly missed that sae info, temp etc... Still I think 343/252 is good on 91 octane!!

The torque looks great / flat....the HP curve at 7k is almost near the max hp.....so pushing the engine past 7k RPMs up to 8k+ appears to only produce a few extra hps....

Than again I could be quoting vendor numbers

Does anyone have a good E46 M3 dyno sheet on hand for comparo. I guess where the glory lies is in the Trq band as they're similar there, but the E9x engine doesn't dip until the end of the rev range

Alright. I'll be the first.

Roller dynos don't guess or estimate, they calculate torque and HP exactly based on the mass of the roller (not the car) and the energy necessary to accellerate the roller. Where the problem lies is translating that back to the engine. Just the same as the dynapack, they have to work in correction factors for STP. Then some bozo pulls a number out of his a$$ for gear losses, same as the dynapack.

The uncorrected numbers from the dynapack should not be significantly different from the uncorrected numbers from most any decent roller dyno with the exception of wheel slippage which is not a problem for the majority of cars.

I would expect the dynapack to be more repeatable, however, which is what you really need to compare before and after mods. But you didn't say that. We need to differenciate between accuracy and repeatability in these discussions. The Dynapack is no more accurate than the guesses that go into the correction factors, just like an inertial dyno.
