No aftermarket warranty available?

I recently went searching for some quotes on an aftermarket warranty. First stop was my CU who finances my car, they exclude the M3 from their warranty plans. Next stop I tried carchex, endurance, AA auto protection, autopom, and a few others highly rated online. unfortunately it seems as though nothing is available except for a $256/month package that covers everything EXCEPT powertrain (lmao).

The vehicle is an '09 M3 ~58k miles.

I know this topic has been covered, and I am not looking for advice on whether or not a warranty is needed, rather reccomendations on a company who works with M3's.

Thanks in advance!

Not really surprised... A number of the after-market warranty companies excluded the M3 from the start based on the cost of repairs. And now that your car is 10 years old and these companies have even better data on the cost of repairs, well you're better off stashing some cash in a rainy day fund for repairs and skip the warranty. At the end of the day these are not inexpensive cars to own, both in terms of maintenance and repairs. If you can work on the car yourself that will help.

When I started getting a rattle which I feared was a bad flywheel, turns out it's normal, all after markets which I researched and know are semi reputable wouldnt touch my 08 @ 64000. That says a lot. The anxiety of knowing whether theyll cover a failure isn't worth it unless you go though a company that cares about their reputation, Assurant through USAA, CarMax, etc

Route 66 is like any other aftermarket warranty company - you can't go by the company name alone, but by the specific warranty you get from given company.

Route 66's 'Easy Street' warranty is outstanding, this is their exclusionary warranty. At one time it was the most popular warranty in the X5 community, where repairs are considerably above and beyond the E9x M3. Unfortunately they don't offer the 'Easy Street' on the X5 any longer (can't say I blame them). If you have their 'First Street' warranty, it has a ton of exclusions. Your cost seems really low so curious what specific warranty you have from them?

Anyhow, gotta read the fine print regardless of warranty company. Too many threads where people ask about a company's warranty vs. the specific warranty and whether it's exclusionary or inclusionary. Most companies offer different levels of coverage.

I have Assurant through USAA, but not sure if they provide warranties separately. They warrantied mine with 59K on the odometer and have paid for a bunch of stuff already.

I have Warranty Solutions 5 star wrap. Got it with 79k on 08 M3, now have 106k.

https://warrantysolutions.com/docs/c...20brochure.pdf

It covers just about everything. Had over 10k in work done at BMW dealership. It has $100 deductible and is good for lifetime you own the car...no mileage restrictions.

Check them out.

I tried, but I don't think you can outside of USAA. They're impossible to contact. If anyone knows how, let me know!

Bummer. I thought that might be the case. I have the claims service number but not sure if that would be of much help.

I'm a USAA member and I called today to ask about their Extended Vehicle Protection plans and the rep told me they were discontinued in October of 2018. He said a few might have slipped through the cracks after that and gotten written, but there are no new sign ups anymore.

Oh wow. I just went online to my USAA account and indeed, the EVP plans are gone. What a shame. I guess they were losing money on them. Got mine in June of 2018 for $3,100 for 2 years and 24K. It's already paid for ~$9k in work at the dealer (thermostat sensor and thermostat replacement, leaking valve cover gaskets, leaking mechatronics side cover, differential replacement). I know that $9k is overpriced, but I figured it would be more likely for the warranty company to honor the work coming from a dealer.
But my car is essentially like new now

Pure speculation on my part but Assurant has a lot of complaints against them. USAA added to Assurants credibility, not the other way around and my guess was that the relationship terminated when long term customers of USAA started getting claims rejected by Asssurant.

Looks like a solid company. My guess is the only way to acquire a plan is at the time of vehicle purchase.

Yes, quite possible, though I haven't had any major issues getting work approved. I had read some online reviews of Assurant from USAA members before purchasing mine, and some were claiming bad experiences, but there were positives too. I think most of the aftermarket warranty companies are going to have complaints. Much like insurers, their goal is to make money after all, not pay out.

Good to know. That's a shame because those were like the best warranties outside of CarMax. Was contacting them prior to Oct '18. But even still, the claims number was not helpful when I contacted them. Moot point now.

Oh ok not bad. What does it it cover and what is the time length/miles? Want to possibly get for peace of mind also if need to do rod bearings etc. what did you end up needing fixed?
