Bumper respray in SoCal?

I called sterling collision today because I want my front bumper resprayed because it's seen better days...

They quoted me 1200-1400 for a respray : that seems extremely inflated since I could get a euro front bumper painted and shipped for a couple hundred more.. is that average pricing for a respray? I was thinking more along the lines of 500-700 bucks...

you get what you pay for. $1200 seems about right in CA, $500 is a hack job sprayed on the car.

Not true, bumper respray should be between 500-1000 and $1000 being the high end. If there's no body work or blending done then that is a very high quote.

Yes, no structural damages, just needs a full respray

With having a surplus of body shops in Southern California prices are going to be competitive. I've been in the industry as well and I can assure you $1200 for a front bumper respray is on the higher end down here. Will you get that quote? Absolutely but there are places that do just as good of a job for a lot cheaper

might depend on how much labor you're going to give them. its going to be quite different if you drop off a bare bumper rather than dropping off your car. they have to take the bumper off, then take the five grilles and the reflectors off. there is a little bit more if you have headlight washers... all of that is not a big deal, but it adds time (labor) and prep work. then they have to put it back together.
i think some shops even bid high if they aren't familiar with these cars because they know they come apart in layers.

I've used Jazz Autobody in Stanton many times for bumper respray. A few friends used them for some minor body panel work. It's been a few years, but it was around $350-400 for a bumper, so maybe $450-500 now.
It's nothing fancy and it's set behind some other shops but the paint matches and the work has always been good. The owner is Armando. 714-527-1055

Agree with you, our bumpers are in the range of 500-650 here in los angeles and surrounding cities. 800 is the most ive seen, since the shop is busy with major collision repairs, for them fixing one bumper isnt worth it therfore upcharging.

Way, way too high. They're hearing M3 and assuming you have money to burn. Better luck taking off the bumper yourself, and asking for a bumper paint job with your paint code and just telling them it's a 3 series.

I had a 335i bumper painted at ABS in El Monte a while back, and while the match was pretty good, the paint started peeling after the bumper scraped a little bit on a parking curb. I paid $400. They did not offer a discount on a respray.

I would bet that $600 will get you a quality paint job if you take the 30 mins to get the bumper off yourself.

Yeah I didn't take it personal and just realized that the car I'm driving brings the connotation that I'm tolling in cash haha.

I called a mobile service that someone here recommended and he told me he could fix the bumper for around 500 or so.. that makes a bit more sense

A mobile service? Does he tow around a paint booth? Hhhmm... if you've got a flat colored car you typically can get away with just taking in the bumper, if it's a metallic it'll need blending with the rest of the body so might as well take the car in. I would do it once and do it right... find a reputable place that does quality work and pay their rates.. auto body is one of those things where you only get what you pay for and you should consider getting a new bumper if yours is that bad. By the time you've paid for proper prep of your old one you're probably almost at the price of a new euro rep that'll need minimal prep. Gl

After some thought.. I'm going to get a euro bumper for 1800 painted and shipped from IND... that makes the most logical sense in my opinion, I just really didn't want a massive bumper taking up storage in my garage ..

Bumpers are light, you can string it up high so its out of the way
