Window tint scratched

Is anyone else aware of window tint on a '11 e90 M3 being scratched? I spoke with a window tint specialist a few months ago and they told me that my year and model has something in the door that scratches the tint every time your roll up and down the window.

I recall there being some plastic inside the door that would scratch tint and some members came up with a fix involving some kind of felt material over the plastic piece. This involved removing the door card to gain access...

Edit: Just search for tint scratch and you'll see many threads. The one I found discusses a product called tint protector which is the product I mentioned which uses some felt like material. Links are provided as well though I'm not sure if they are still around...

The window seal on the interior that rides against the window needs to be replaced if your tint is getting scratched. They wear out over time and can cause the issue.

As I recall it was primarily an E90 issue but this was 8 years ago.

My e92 gets a film that looks like scratches transferred to the tint if I roll down the window when its really humid or wet out. I assume it's something on that interior rubber/felt piece that leaves behind a residue on the inside of the window on the tint. It wipes off, but it's really annoying.

I've had one e90 and two e92's now, all with tinted windows. My e90 has this problem like a week after I tinted the car, such a shame..

My e92s on the other hand never had this issue; it may be because every time the doors open the windows go down a half inch. Also the door mechanics are very different from the e90.

My previous e90 335i had this problem as well.

I never tinted the e90m for this reason alone.

It can happen due to the guides, yes. Two different shops told me this.

In 4 years of owning the car, I actually never rolled down the rear windows.
