155 mph is not the max for the us spec m3!!!

no shit,my buddy has a sparkling graphite 335 that will only do 155 mph i know bc i traded my 335 in for my newly purchased july production m3(in which my rtti doesnt work).anyway his car shut down at 155 mph on autobahn 3 yesterday and i blew right by him at an even 165 mph !!!if theres anybody that has a 335 ,you no it wont go past 155 mph period well my m3 kept going til it read 165..this is the second time i have gone this speed!! hopefully this will put an end to the top speed question..if you want proof you can call the dealer in wurzburg germany and ask for paul his number is country code 49 (931 2788 5890 )he was the guy that told me and showed me in his demo sedan (that was past break in already)..i was stunned when i went that fast in mine..my car has gotten alot faster since 1200 miles have past..i now have 2,678 on ...im still pist that my rtti is not working..munich is suppose to be coming out with a program..from what i heard..just thought i would share with everyone.

The limiter is is still at a nominal 155. The speedo simply reads high

You think it's off by 10mph tho? And what about the OP saying the 335 shut down after getting to 155 and he blowing past him?

Road & Track claims the e9x M3 is limited to 161mph.

This was covered many times before.

M cars usually are limited to about 160/161 mph so they can pass AG cars on the Autobahn.

He's right. I've hit 160 on my M3 a few times. Unless the speedometer is off by that much, then the limiter is higher than 155.

I have heard the very same thing, M cars have to be quicker than the common garden BMW and that's the reason their limiter in most relaxed.

Then my question would be how does the car know it's doing 155 if it's speedo is telling you 165? If the car actually knew it was going 155 why wouldn't it tell the driver it's only 155?
