AiM Solo DL 2 - Group Buy Interest
Edit: 5% ($40) discount for 10 people in the group buy
As it's unlikely we'll get 10 people, this effort is pretty much done. Original post: Comment below if you're interested in being a part of a group buy for the Solo DL 2, this package in particular - https://store.m-world.us/products/ai...=3738872676392 It includes the "Plug-and-Play Harness" that's easier to write into the CAN so it gives the DL 2 access to metrics not available over the ODB2 port. They sell the harness alone for $175 so there's already a bit of a discount. I would like to know how many people would be interested in buying this and in what timeframe before reaching out the vendor. 1. tsk94 2. M3Ap1 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Are there install instructions on what is required to install the harness? Just wanted to get an idea.

The harness plugs in to the connectors behind the glovebox and you don't have to cut or solder anything. Without the plug and play harness, you'll have a bit more work to do coming up with an equivalent solution or splicing wires to make it work with the cables normally provided. If you're handy with that sort of stuff, you can make the harness included for much cheaper. I'd rather not do any sort of work where I have to cut up wires (and my local shop made the same choice when they passed on the work) so this harness is ideal. |

I can't commit right now, but I'll be watching. If I'm in a good position before it's buttoned up, I might be in.

FYI - the plug and play harness that m-world sells separately is a completely new AIM harness modified to become PnP. That's why it's so expensive when buying separately as they are buying a whole new harness (which comes with the AIM at the regular price). I made my own plug and play and it was a bit of a hassle but not super hard. I agree that it's a good value to just buy the package from M-world along with the unit. I don't believe (based on the DIY link above) that M-world includes an add-a-fuse to hard wire the power. This is something I highly recommend doing as the unit's battery doesn't last very long.

Commenting to express interest if I’m financially able to commit when this comes together.

I bought this setup a couple weeks ago and love it. For anyone that tracks their car the data this setup can collect for you is amazing.
The plug and play kit is worth it for me. The kit is easy to install and you can very easily remove everything and go back to stock. Quote:
The M-world harness did not include an add-a-fuse to tie in power but the harness does have the +/- wires ready to go and even tells you what empty fuse spot you can pull power from and where to ground the harness. I picked up an add-a-fuse wire from autozone ($6) and that was the only thing needed.

With 10 people, it’s a 5% discount with a mount and free shipping included. Not amazing but still pretty good.

Appreciate the efforts here, but at that discount I'm out.
I'm confident I can find a better deal via various 3rd party distributor sales and on my own timeline. Sorry guys - Best of luck!

I sell AiM Solo2DLs for $650 shipped within the US everyday. I'm up to 43 sold.
I drop ship them so I make some beer money, my vendor is happy and whoever buys crap from me saves some $$$ with minimal hassle. Suction cup mount is $36 extra. That's retail but that's the best I can do on that. Price is non-negotiable. You will need to splice wires but it's 3 wires. Put yo' big boy pants on!

I'm officially out of the group buy since I bought the package at full price. It was definitely worth it even without a discount. The hardest part of the install was reassembling the glove box and cutting the plastic off the power/ground wires.
They've also been very helpful over e-mail with my questions so I highly recommend them. The package contents were the Solo DL 2, a power adapter, fuse tap, fuse, RAM suction mount, and the PnP harness for wiring into the CAN along with wires to ground and power for the fuse tap. I've also added some pictures of in-between steps that aren't necessarily covered in the document they provide. Pull out the subconnector by pulling apart the ends. The fuse tap only worked when oriented that way. I routed the ground wire from behind the assembly due to length issues - do leave plenty of slack as there are sharp edges there. |

I purchased a Solo2DL from bigjae1976
Smooth and speedy transaction. Great alternative to the group buy given it's effectively the same price. Buy with confidence!
