2000 BMW 528i Fuse Problem

The problem I'm facing is that when I inserted my cell phone charger into my cigarette lighter, it blew up on me. With the very minimal knowledge of electrical stuff that I have, I feel that its taking way too much current than it should.

Anyone know how I could use my cell phone charger or even my gps charger for that matter without having the fuse blow up?

Thanks in advance.

Did you mean to post this on e90post? There's an E39 forum on bimmerfest.com.

Well ... sorry for the wrong forum post.

I cannot possibly charge it at home when I'm out. Thats when I need the GPS the most.
