When I saw his first one on IG a while back I knew that was probably the route I was going to go. I need to get on the list.

My goal is to get into Nasa TT this year and I didn't see anything against it in the rules. My cage clears my headliner now by like 2mm lol, it was a pain in the ass to install. I am hoping I can get the headliner out without removing my cage

Ditto, I think SLB street class requires interior but also requires a working radio (which I removed). So I'll need to figure that out, for this reason it's getting laps with SCCA and NASA TT to build experience.

If you're cutting and scraping the headliner it's possible. I think getting to all the headliner screws will be an exercise in contortion with the cage installed. Open the sunroof first, remove the gasket from outside then close it. Should help the clearance and the weight balance vs open. Remove the front seats.

ugh I really don't feel like doing all that haha, especially taking my seats out.

But I plan to gut a lot of my interior so I will end up pulling the cage at some point anyway

If you run with Nasa will you fall into TT1 or TT2? I should fall into TT3 like most e9x's but figured with the super charger you're gonna get bumped a good bit

Yup... TT2 is possible depending on tires. Need a new dyno and weight. I'd like to be in whichever has more participants.

I don't know if you can fit the sunroof out of the car with seats in place. Definitely not the headliner without destroying it.

Good to know, my seats are both fixed back and dont move much anyway. So I will plan to remove them.

I would take the time see which class will make you most competitive for your region. There's no point running the car in 3 if no one else runs it regularly, or if you don't have enough people to win tires. Sure, maybe you win lots of events, but if there's only one other guy, best you'll do is some brake pads versus some Hoosiers AND brake pads.

Tires would be great, but '21 is experience in competition. I think TT1 has more participation than 2, plus unearths more options. My goal is just to chase down the Vettes (half kidding).

Sunroofs are best for video camera mounting

I don’t think it really matters depending on your power weight for NASA is all there is. Interior isn’t really a thing. Play with tires and see. I can run TT3 or 4 depending on tires at my current power and weight

I advise against sunroof for camera mounts. The sunroof rattles and transmits that into the camera.

Everything rattles when driving on track

If you don't have stock seats for one of those headrest mounts though, what better option is there?

Roll bar, if one has one.

That's what the roll bar is for
Also I never have the sunroof cover open, I hate the extra light coming in. It makes the GoPro unhappy and makes me unhappy lol

What is your current weight and power? I have yet to dyno my car but pretty sure I wont fall into TT4 with my current mods and with the weight once I finish gutting the car. I already have no back seat and no trunk interior

This is what I use for roll bar mounting, it is SUPER sturdy.

Wow, that's a bigger difference then 295 RR's and 275 NT01's lol.

I've run both on 10" wheels and the difference is close, but I believe a bit smaller then what you've shown here.

305 take-offs would be easy to fit if I/anyone can fit 295 RR's.. surprising.
FWIW I was running 305 DH squared for a couple years with zero issues on a 10. Tried the 295 rr and one of my tires blew out (inner sidewall) on the 5th session. No, there was no contact with the suspension. I'm not necessarily blaming in on the fact that the sidewall could have been under more stress than if it was on a 10.5, but the damage is indicative of being pinched. There was also a bend found on the inside of the rim, which wasn't there on mounting. I didn't hit anything, so I'm assuming the bend was caused from going off track as a result of my blowout.

I strongly suspect the issue is not related to running a 295 RR on a 10" wheel. Perhaps a defective tire or damage upon installation? I've never heard of a sidewall blow out being directly caused by an under supported rim, except perhaps in extreme instances.. Toyo themselves states a 10" wheel to be within the appropriate rim range for that tire. Myself and others have run 295's on 10s without issue for years, which is why I think yours failing in such a short amount of sessions is not related to running that size tire on that size of rim. What cold pressure were you running?

Really sucks that it happened and I'd understand why you'd be hesitant to use them again on these wheels, but I think it's an unfortunate and unlucky coincidence.

Toyo says the approved rim range for 295 is 10-11, with 10.5 being optimal. Sounds like a defective tire or one that was damaged during install, like a bead getting pinched or cut. Did you talk to Toyo?
