NT01's at full depth are fine in the wet, if that's a concern then the RR shouldn't be a consideration as they are unsurprisingly worse. The RR's are okay in damp conditions but as soon as it approaching standing water they can get sketchy - good car control practice though..

Besides takeoffs, NT01's are still the king for a reasonable priced, reasonably fast and durable lapping tire.

Okay, but an NT01 isn't a 200TW tire, it's 100. I get that some of these 200s are probably closer to 100 though.

I dunno, I'd still just go for an RR. They wear pretty well and are a fast tire, plus quite cheap. My two cents.

Picked up my splitter today. Sadly the wing is still 6 weeks out so this will have to wait to go on the car. Probably April, but gives me some time to test the current set up in March.

For reference that's a 66" bathtub in that box.

In the last year and a half I've gone from re71r's to ns2r's to ar1's to nt01's and I can say the nittos are still the best bang for the buck out there and also the fastest tire I ran (with the ar1's coming at a close second although it heat cycled out faster).

People give nt01's grief but surprisingly they're still great!

Just wait to you get on the A052s, stupid fast, but also pay the price in lack of longevity

NT01s are still a great bang for the buck as are Toyo RR - tried real hard to destroy a set of RR I bought with a set of wheels, it was a challenge

Dude I ordered Tuesday Afternoon 1pm, they were on my doorstep Wednesday 2pm. Turn14 distribution is handling the drop-ship for a lot of items I've ordered recently. They have a warehouse in Nevada which makes it awesome for me in CA.

Yeah I wanted to run then but didn't realize how oversized they were! They didn't fit my application.

Sadly my friends review of them were yes, they're fast but wear too quickly.

The last year I prolly went to 16 days at the track and upwards of 4-6 hours of track time a day. I need tires that last!! 😂

I'm also partial to the Toyo because there's contingency available from NASA, plus sponsorship discounts.

The AR1 is substantially faster than the NT01, at least in 295/30 AR1 vs 275 Nitto, both on the same 18x10 wheels. But yea they heat cycle out.

This treadwear rating shit is all a scam anyways. The fast 200tw seem to be like what a 60tw should be.

My only complaint w the ar1's was that one of the tires had this weird tread seam split which gave me some cause of concern before I could really learn the tire. I had to scrap the whole set cuz I didn't feel comfortable running them anymore

None of the other brands had this issue. Any ideas of what might have caused this?

Ah, yes, delamination.

Heat cycling them (like, for real, doing a scrub-only 3-4 laps and coming in and letting them sit) can help.

But it's the seam where the tread cap was joined together at the factory and sometimes it opens back up on these track tires. Kumho had a big faff with the V710 on this a long time ago

I don't know about the AR1 but I know the Toyo RR need to be mounted in certian directions depending if the car is FWD/RWD/AWD to help prevent this from happening.

It's a tread splice and is normal. My RRs sometimes do it. Even my Rival S did it.

The RR mounting are not intuitive.

RR mounting and swapping guidelines are indeed strange. I've rotated them wherever to even out wear over the past 2 season without issue. Not nessicarily advising it, just putting it out there..

Yeah I figured it was delamination. It was concerning based upon that the other brands had zero issues.

I'm more of a send and forget kinda driver. The tough part about getting that first heat cycle in is that you'd have to have some spares around which I don't have the luxury of due to my car having a cage installed.

I'd love to try the ar1's again but this gives me a small hesitation of buying them again despite their quick results of being a fast tire

Did you try running Toyo RR in 295/30/18 and found it to rub, while other 295s don't? I have been running 295 square AR1(it works, 18x10.5 ET22 wheels and JRZ + GC camber plates + short springs) and have a set of RR 295 square sitting here, waiting to be used.

I haven't tried the RR's yet. Mainly due to the general thought that it's not much better than a normal 100 tw tire. It's not on my list to try next to compare to the rest of the brands I've tried so far.

To our northern brothers and sisters - please keep this winter crap to yourselves! Supposed to get down to 3* Monday - 3 freaking degrees!!! That is just dumb. We put up with +100* and 700% humidity all summer so that we don’t have to deal with winter! And now this??? Freaking city will shut down until at least Wednesday now; roads will be closed all over the place. If you do drive you will automatically be hit by 12 people claiming they hit ice patches - before you even get to the end of your street! And that is before the ice even gets here! Seriously, this is just dumb At least its supposed to get back to 70 a few days after - proper winter weather.

The Toyo Mounting Direction Style Guide strikes me as an "uh oh we better release a setup guide or we're going to be stuck with a tire nobody will buy"
