And I can't believe that anyone on this forum with DCT wouldn't at least try it at least once. I've done it a dozen times and never had the car go out of control on me.
I can admit that I've never tried it. I guess my reasons are just that it seems like it would cause premature clutch wear, and I'm probably keeping this car past warranty. I also think that it will only be more brutal on the trans now that I have a SC.

I have done the full pedal-to-the-floor mashing in S6 from a stop that provides a basic tire-smoking clutch dump a couple times, but my understanding is that LC is more abusive than that on the clutches because it rides them to control wheelspin but I could be wrong there, in which case, someone please correct me.

I honestly don't know the answer, but I would be very surprised if it worked that way. I'm sure LC is a little harder on the equipment overall than just flooring it from a stop (hence the electronically enforced cool down period between uses), but I strongly doubt the clutch involvement is appreciably different from any other hard shifting scenario with the DCT. I'm pretty sure LC handles the stability of the car using the DSC system only, not the transmission. And as noted above, it actually doesn't do a very good job at that anyway.

Sequential mode...vs "D" Drive mode.

I was actually expecting this, but on my attempt, I had the pedal to the floor and it hit the rev limit and just stopped and sat at max rev. I looked down expecting it to shift as part of the launch control programming...but mine didnt. So, I manually engaged the next gear.
Yours completes the shift automatically?

If you do it right (flag comes up - pedal all the way down - release shifter), then LC will shift through all of the gears even though you're in S. You have to keep pedal down the whole time or it will kick itself out of LC and then you're in control of shifting again.

Hmmmm...
I can't imagine I let up on the pedal, but I guess I'll have to try it again now to make sure if that isn't what happened

Thank you for putting together the most concise list of steps.
There are innumerable threads on this subject with everyone debating bits and pieces.

The flag will appear once you push the shift lever forward (step 3).

Haven't done it either. With a 6mt, I don't do drop clutch starts either. Either way, you can still get off the line quickly without launch control.

Wait, I am confused...with a DCT car you are saying that it is faster out of the hole without using LC? Did I get that right? Would love to hear you explain how that works?

No not faster, but you can get off the line quickly without it. At least fast enough for me for most occasions.

I think you guys convinced me now. I will have to try this sometime.

In the manual it says: Do not use Launch Control too often, as the higher loads on the vehicle lead to premature component wear.

What's too often? Can't BMW give us a number?

The stock setting0f 5400RPMS is way to high and the tires spin too much. I have a tune which lowers my LC settings to 3500 RPMS and it works great!!!

I haven't done it and don't plan on it either. Will track the shit out of this car but have no interest in LC. I feel like I bot a 750, not a hayabusa... That being said wouldn't mind doing it in someone elses ride, any takers
