How many of you have done launch control?

How often do you do it?

23K miles and still haven't tried it. I just did the sequence to see the flag and make sure I know how to do it but aborted before I actually launch.

Tires aren't cheap...but I had to try it once.
My wife was with and she said...and I quote..."I think I'm in love with a car"

I've used it more times than I can count. I try to ust it any time I am out for a spirited drive, which sadly does not happen as often as I'd like these days.

It's one of the funnest parts of having a DCT. Use it - the car was built to handle it.

I would love to try it but I need an open road with no other cars or cops present to test this. It wouldn't be prudent to do it out in the open. I feel that parking lots won't have enough braking distance and if I hit 88mph, I ain't gonna vanish into thin air. also, I don't go tracking so i guess I'm at a loss. Anyone know a good place in socal to test this?

Can you give us a quick run down on exactly how to do it.

I've read the book, but I still had trouble getting it to work.

Do you keep it floored and does it shift automatically? What revs are best and does it spin up or does it keep traction?

Hello could you give me some advice. I have a 08 coupe that I just bought a month ago and I have read and read again the instructions for launch control I've tried at least 25 times with no luck the flag never pops up. Thanks

Turn DSC off.
Put it on S it'll go to S3
Move it from S3 to S6
Push the shift lever forward and keep it pushed.
FLOOR the gas while keeping the shifter forward (car won't move but RPM will)
If you need to lower the RPM use the cruise control arm.
Whenever you let the shift lever go, it launches. (keep it floored) if you take your foot off then you ARE responsible for shifting, if you keep it floored it shifts up automatically.

^^^ I'll add, keep foot off the brake.

And if for any reason you still can't get it after following sameh's instructions, please try reading through some past posts for a few minutes:

http://www.google.com/search?q=site%...launch+control

While the process can be confusing, you will get it.

I'll add that the car has to be adequately warmed up before you get the flag.

And I can't believe that anyone on this forum with DCT wouldn't at least try it at least once. I've done it a dozen times and never had the car go out of control on me.

You're in "S" mode, so you have to shift.

2 things that will get ya, that are also mentioned on this thread is:
1. Make sure the car is warmed up.
2. Make sure your foot isnt on the brake.

I got quite a bit of wheel spin, but the rear end didn't get very loose at all. I left the revs at the default.

Do you guys feel like LC gets a quicker launch for you? I tried LC 4 times in my car so far in 12k miles and it seems that I have to modulate the gas pedal to keep the rear tires from spinning too much. Am I supposed to do the whole hold down dtc thing until the dsc comes on the dash, or do I just press the button once briefly. I thought the whole point of LC was to keep the tires from slipping while dropping the clutch for you.

The LC feature automatically shifts for you so long as the pedal is to the metal. What do you mean when you say "You're in 'S' mode, so you have to shift."?
