Journal: M3POST members enjoy 3-day BMW M school on the Nurburgring / Nordschleife

Everyone has already covered it, not much more I can add except encouragement to everyone who can do this and a strong desire to do it again myself.

Everything came off as planned and driving an M3 while there just capped it off even if it was an expensive "option". We did some sightseeing in the Model valley and the Rhein river gorge. Most importantly pcbrew was a great navigator and passenger, and he put up with a test of the car's speed limiter (in a properly speed derestricted zone).

Our group's instructor, Christian Auer, was great. Not only friendly but good at explaining and his cadence while driving was clear and consistent helping with the visuals that serve as "markers" for turn in, etc. I wanted to get a lap in with him driving and me in the passenger seat but the 'Ring management closed us out 15 minutes early that last day. Also too bad about his voiceover not being on the audio.

It would have been fun to have set up a meet and greet for the board members attending, we just didn't think about it. Something for next time.

I will throw in some more images just to fill things out. The first is of our group's instructor Christian, the second of our group's cars approaching during a training section (don't recall where), and the last another shot of the cars in a training section approaching the Chicane.

I post-processed the GPS data for a lap, filtered to ~200 points, and added annotation for the corners for plotting in Google Earth.

Attached is a KML file you can load into Google Earth and zoom around in.
The picture is just a screen grab of what you should see.
(delete the .txt extension so it has a .kml extension)

Finally got a lap video post processed with speed, elevation, and GPS data.

This is recorded from the VBOX system carried in the cars, displayed with the Racelogic Circuit tools (thanks nickw for the pointer) and screen captured with Fraps (www.fraps.com).
