New Motul 300V 10W60 Engine oil

Hello everyone,

I just discovered this oil at my favorite retailer in France.

The Esther Core technology looks very good, so this oil seems to be able to maintain superior protection even with E85 ethanol (I drive this fuel).

What do you think ?

I enclose the characteristics of the product:

https://en.oreca-store.com/engine-oi...e-mans-5l.html

MOTUL's reputation for developing high performance Ester-based synthetic lubricants is now worldwide.
The new Motul 300V range incorporates the latest developments in exclusive ESTER Core® technology to extract maximum engine power while maintaining reliability and wear protection.
This new racing formula now includes compatibility with all fuels including bio-ethanol (E85), particulate filters and the new LPSI (Low Speed Pre Ignition) technology engines.
ESTER Core® technology offers optimised polarity for maximum oil film adhesion to increase engine protection in the most extreme conditions.

Unique to the 300V range, this technology offers many advantages:
- Increased power, thanks to reduced friction for maximum power and torque at all engine speeds
- Reliability with high shear stability for maximum oil film strength and reduced engine wear
- Longer life with increased oxidation resistance for longer engine and oil life
- Increased pick-up with maximum oil film adhesion for fast engine revs
- Easier starting due to rapid oil pressure build-up and optimum oil flow
- Less oil consumption due to low oil volatility and evaporation help control oil consumption
- Good detergency to ensure better engine cleanliness

Properties :
- Viscosity grade SAE J 300 10W-60
- Density at 20°C (68°F) ASTM D1298 0.854
- Viscosity at 40°C (104°F) ASTM D445 162.1 mm²/s
- Viscosity at 100°C (212°F) ASTM D445 23.6 mm²/s
- HTHS Viscosity at 150°C (302°F) ASTM D4741 5.5 mPa.s
- Viscosity Index ASTM D2270 176
- Pour Point ASTM D97 -36°C / -33°F
- Flash Point ASTM D92 234°C / 453°F
- TBN ASTM D2896 8.1 mg KOH/g

I have been running Motul 300V 15W50 since getting my rod bearings replaced this summer. Overall -personal- observations:

- Engine sounds and feels a lot smoother since running this oil
- This seems to warm up a bit faster than LM 10W60
- Fuel consumption seems to have gone up (99% city driving)
> LM 10W60 trip computer showed a fairly consistent 13L/100 KM
> M 15W50 trip computer consistently shows 14.5L/100 KM
- Oil consumption has gone up too (I usually go 1-year before oil changes)
> LM 10W60 showed a very slight drop in oil level over a period of 1-year (from full to maybe half-full via e-dipstick)
> M 15W50 went from 3/4 full to a low oil indicator in ~2 to 3 months. I had to purchase another 1-L bottle of Motul 300V 15W50 to top up to 3/4 full.
- Motul 300V is expensive

I definitely like the smoother behaviour with 15W50, but the oil consumption issue is concerning. Maybe overkill for a daily driver.

Thank you for your message. Seems logical to use more oil because W50 is more fluid when hot and therefore evaporates more.

I just ordered some of this 300V 10w60 LeMans. Is anyone running it yet?

I asked FCP Euro if they had plans to carry it. They said their vendor doesn't have it yet but they will add it to their catalog once they do.

I've been using the 20W60 flavor for a while now and have found nothing wrong with it. I believe the 10W60 should be the same.
