Dude, thank you SO MUCH! You just saved me at least $100 on plugs alone. I've got 51k on my E92 and pretty sure I'm still on factory plugs, changing those out ASAP.

Great post, hope other veterans can add to this!

I just moved into an E90 from an E46, and trying to know what issues exist for this chassis and how to preventively address or monitor them.

Buy a warrany!!!

I've owned my 2008 E92 M3 for about two weeks now. It only had 62,900 miles on it. I had it for 13 hours before I had my first problem. Turns out that my thermostat broke and one of my throttle actuators was failing. The first thing I wish I knew when I was getting my M3 was to buy a warranty on it as soon as possible. Aside from the $180 diagnostic test, BMW quoted me at around $3,800 (replace thermostat and both actuators) after I hadn't even had the car for a full day. Thankfully I took it to one of my mechanics and had it done for a third of the price but I learned my lesson and bought a warranty the day I got my car back.

Did you buy privately? If you got it at a dealer, there usually is some limited warranty

Yes, we got it through a third party. Had it checked out about two days before purchasing it. Only problem with the car was a leaky transmission pan but wasn't necessary for about 8-10k miles. The car was so perfect that both the technician who did the pre-purchase examination and the service manager wanted to buy it. It was really astonishing that a 10 year old M3 with only 63k miles would break without any indication. But all is good now and the car is better than ever. Can't wait for the rod bearings to go out !!

There is no way of ever knowing when a thermostat or TA's are going to go on you. Certainly bad luck as to when it happened in your case. I am surprised however that both TA's went at the same exact time though. It was most likely that one went. Hopefully no issues for another 60k Miles for you. FYI, without a picture of your car it's hard to determine if any of this actually happened

Well, the first one went out and the dealership told me to replace both because the second one to go out is usually not long after the first one. And check out my profile dawg! I honestly don't even know how to attach an image to a post/thread. Only been on this forum for a couple of days haha

Are you using the app or viewing the forums through your web browser?

Also what company did you purchase your warranty through? I plan on getting an E90 M3, F80 M3 or F10 M5 if I can find the latter in a manual which is much harder than the first two and would like to know.

Also sick looking car!

I was using the web at first but thanks to BOOF-M3 (awesome guy by the way), I am now using the app to attach images.

I purchased my warranty through my insurance company, USAA. I believe most insurance companies offer a warranty on cars that are 10 years or newer but you have to be careful. Seeing how it is halfway through 2018, you would want to act sooner than later if deciding on a 2008 E90. I have driven all 3 of those cars and although I may be biased, there is nothing better than the sound of a naturally aspirated V8 that redlines at 8400 rpm. I would do research with your insurance company to see if they offer some sort of warranty. I would avoid some sort of third party warranty because I have heard many horror stories about "the fine print" that covers some things but not others even if it makes sense that it should be covered.

And thank you! I love her with all my heart and can't wait for the adventures to come. Good luck with your search and I can't wait to see what you choose. If you have any questions regarding anything in the future be it car related or warranty related, don't be afraid to ask. Love to help in any way I can.
