Ok, so upon double checking today… I'm 99% certain the exhaust leak is at the driver's side manifold/headers.
How difficult is the job to get to them? Are they welded or also bolted flanges?? |

Looking at the placement and confines of the engine bay it looks pretty easy if you are comfortable with pulling the engine or have access to a lift.

Actually even with dropping the subframe folks are having trouble accessing some of the nuts at the manifold/head junction.

My deeper concern… I wasn't planning on driving her until sorting out the leak, yet I figured a quick drive for a badly needed Sunday wash was okay…
On my way back, I heard the leak get louder, I could really hear the exhaust air pushing out while driving. Check Engine Light popped up… P0128 Coolant Themostat P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire P0306 Cylinder 6 Misfire P0307 Cylinder 7 Misfire P0308 Cylinder 8 Misfire P0300 Random Cylinder Misfire … Reduced Power - Limp Mode Is this just due to the leak? Is there a chance something else was permanently damaged? |

My passenger side header is leaking pretty bad, real ticky… may have to stay that way, lol. I'd be doing this on my back.

If it was my car, i'd start at the donut gaskets first. They're relatively low hanging fruit to work on, given their age they are probably shot, and while i had the car up in the air I would pull off the driver side wheel well lining and see what header bolts I could get to. OR fix the donut gaskets first, clear codes and see what returns then tear into the header nuts. See if any have rattled loose or fallen off and check for signs of blown gaskets. |

Not quite… I got busy during the holidays, and she's been sitting in the garage.
I'm doing the doughnut gaskets first. I took it to my friend's shop, who has a smoke machine to find any leaks, and he said he said it was coming from there. I'm really curious if that's the only leak though because I was pretty darn sure I had heard the leak from the driver's side headers/manifold. Doughnut going in first couple weeks of Jan. I'll update here when finally resolved. |
