Im just saying, the way I got handled by that mustang was so evil, it all happened so fast lol Like one second he's blowing his horn and the next second he's a quarter mile ahead. Maybe one can argue that he had a SC or just upgraded pistons, cams, or whatever, point is I got spanked. The tension is starting to pass over me now, but I've definitely learned to not underestimate a sleeper looking GT.
If you are that bent out over this, you need to start pouring $$$ into your car, buy a new one, or get a different hobby. Lol.

As it was said, there is ALWAYS a faster car, and often for less money. All comes down to what you want to OWN and what makes you HAPPY!

OP, keep in mind that if you get caught street racing in Cali, you lose your car.

Dang! Nice 'stang! Wish I had 2 of them. Oh wait, for my M3 I COULD have 2 of them, and I still won't make the trade.

A pickup can carry way more rocks in the back too - Damn, M3 beat again!

Don't even get me started on the awesome minivan next door! The milf who drives it - oh she drives me wild with the sporty way she pushes the sliding door button - she's clearly a naughty freak!

Dct M would of been quicker, not to mention the fact of how damn sexy the M3 looked next to that mustang...... Then on top of that you have a 5.0 vs. a 4.0 I'm not impressed, I'll take my M3 over any stang any day of the week even if it means taking an azz whoopin in a straight line!

At least the OP was man enough to admit it. Often we read about how there was an extra passenger, or the car was not running right, or the driver missed a shift, or the other guy got the jump, etc. He made the Mustang owner's day.

I agree there are some faster cars that I would not want to own. I don't really like Corvettes, for example, except for the new C7. But I can honestly say that I have never had a car that was too fast. Also, unlike most of the forum members here, I don't live on a racetrack and drive my car on the street 99.99% of the time. What I want from the car is based on that 99.99% of my driving, not the 0.01% that I spend at a track. You guys who do most of your driving on the track are lucky.

I agree with all of this.

Except the track - about 1/3 of my 17k miles are on track. Yea!

Might have looked like this under the hood and you didn't know it. My Saleen:

If you live in Atlanta (guy I sold it to lives there), don't mess with this car:

Street trim, show winner and would run high 10's all day...

Would you be willing to share some more thoughts on comparison and contrast between it and your M? What made you decide to switch from good ole 'Murican Muscle?!

Lol, if you didn't hear any boost, then he was spraying for sure. I am guilty of doing this on the highway mostly to C63 and GTR owners.

I think the problem here is, you were granny shifting, not double-clutching like you should.

Just for a minute. I loved that car and it was definitely the fastest car I've ever owned. My issue was one of fixing the next weakest link. The car was a real s/c Saleen that was 375hp stock. It was converted over to the Terminator with the KB and lots of other stuff, which resulted in 620rwhp on a mild 14lb boost set-up (s/c could produce 24lbs of boost). Since nothing was built to handle that power, I was fixing stuff all the time (sensors, fuel system, suspension pieces, etc.). It was great at WOT, but sometimes had issues just driving around normally. The handling was good, but the ride was not. Smoking anyone, to include crotch rockets, was a lot of fun (good to be king), but dealing with the nit-noid stuff got really tiring. So...I sold it last Fall.

I bought my wife a 2011 328i with the M-Sport package and loved that car. It didn't have the power, but the solid feel and handling was very desirable. That got me thinking about an M3. I was between an M3, Cayman S, CLK55 AMG, Z4 M-Sport, Z06 and Boss 302. My eBay searches are evidence of my 6 month search. When I ran across my car, I thought it was a good deal and went for it.

I don't regret the decision. I like the M and feel it is a great all around sports car. It doesn't have the power of my Saleen, but would out-handle it and does a much better job of giving me 'usable' power. Getting 600+hp to the ground is a challenge to say the least. We'll see how long this car scratches my itch. Right now, it's good. BTW - it won't look stock for long. Making changes, just not sure I am going to do anything with the driveline (don't want to end-up in the same situation of fixing it all the time, plus it is MUCH more expensive with this car!).

Sorry for the temporary hijacked thread. Back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Also, now that I think of it, it may have been SC or spray because I've raced a stang before and the results were pretty even, I was up by maybe a car length. This stang I went up against the other night was definitely SC or spraying.. either way, Im glad I could make his night.

On the up side, I was taking the PCH to the office this morning and came across a 458 Italia kissing my ass, obviously he wanted me to punch it, either because he was really stupid or he was a previous M owner.. So I stayed calm, taken I got spanked by a stang earlier and I wasn't in the mood for a second spanking. The 458 over takes me (Im in M mode, in gear, prepped hah) so I punch it in 2nd and immediately catch up to him.. for a good 2 miles he couldn't shake me. We pull up to a red light where he had to make a left, he asks me "whats under that hood?? Is it tuned?" I thought to myself "no way is this is a scene from fast and the furious 1 hah".. I said to him "just an intake and exhaust ".. He says nice! Reves his v8 and peals out like a Dbag

I was pretty surprised the m3 kept up with his car, I'm sure if the road was more open, that stallion would have taken off..

Truth, Mustangs are fast. They can be fast in straight line and fast on the track. But the M3 is just nicer car, period.

There is always someone faster. There are any number of cars that are cheaper and faster than stock M3 from stock to modified. ZL1, GT500, Corvette modified STI, EVO, Mustang GT or Camaro SS all come to mind.

The reason to own an M3 is that it's a wonder balance of power, agility and daily driving comfort.
