Big thanks to EAS here in Anaheim for squeezing me in for a GTS DCT reflash.
An easy 20min ordeal that resulted in some nice changes. The gearbox seems more sorted and smoother in auto mode. The downshifts in manual mode are consistent, predictable. I feel like BMW spent more time on this for the GTS making for a better overall experience. If for nothing else, I think this is a great upgrade for ensuring gearbox longevity as the new firmware just seems more dialed in. |

Finally finding some track time as the weekends get a little less busy, or as I merely put off projects. The car is fairly well sorted with some recent updates to the suspension and tires. Bimmerworld lower control arm and trailing arm sphericals installed. Updated front and rear Swift springs for slightly stiffer rates at 10kgf/16kgf. Car has been re-aligned, balanced. Michelin Sport Cup 2 (240) Connected tires were fitted to the Titan7 T-R10 wheels along with the little temp/pressure sensors. I have the Motion Control 2way shocks set up nicely as well.
These Michelins are interesting in that they are a Sport Cup 2 tire but in 240 tread wear. The tires are quite soft still, similar to a regular Sport Cup 2. Hoping for some longevity out of these, as I get some new wheels sorted for track use. The Michelins are also the new “Connected Tire” which means they have a small pocket on the inside for a sensor that measures pressure and temp. The sensor comes with a separate 500$ package that is 4 sensors, receiver and a phone mount. The idea is that the sensors are paired to the Michelin Track Connect mobile app, giving you real time temp and pressure data. The data is collected while you are on track with real-time feedback as to state of tires relative to their sweet spot. The app is much like a lap timer, giving you lap times (GPS based) and a course map review of what your tires did and where. Its interesting seeing the temps go up as you run the session. The lap timer is nice but more importantly - you just get a quick readout for temps and pressures. One of the track events was the Shift-Sector half mile event. This is not the car for it but still fun to stretch it out some. With poor start traction and relatively low effort on my part it ran 135mph or so in the half. To put things into perspective, the McLaren 675LT we bought out ran 187mph at 1000whp and our Porsche GT2 flagship runs 205-208mph consistently at just over 1400whp (6speed to boot) Two weekends ago got to Streets of Willow at Willow Springs Raceway with SpeedDistrict and the shop, which was sort of the first time the car was set up right. Good tires, shocks tuned with the stiffer springs and etc. This was my first time being at Streets and was a great time learning the track and getting a handle on it. Managed to just dip into 1.29s - lots of work left. It was quite cool and the track took a bit to warm up - this is where that Michelin app came in handy - you could see how the tires were taking a bit to get up to temp. Looking forward to the coming weekend at Big Willow and more California track (I’ve been in SoCal 3 years and its time to get out and drive) The Brembo GT-S holding up great, though Im nearing the end of the Ts-20 pads. Shocks are always there and the car just deliveres. 167k Miles and counting! Overall the car handles great. I need to look at mitigating body roll somewhat and setting up with a track-only set of wheels and tires so I dont kill the street tires. Keep tuning the dampers and just get more seat time. Really want a set of seats and harnesses, but maybe just harnesses. Getting flung about is tiring. Images by CaliPhotoVideo for SpeedDistrict |

Good update! What tire size are you running?
I just recently bought a quickfit pro harness and HANS. I remember they tend to ride a little high sometimes in my older E46 so hopefully they dont do that this weekend. I hope that it will be adequate for me.

Mfactory CF Driveshaft fitted finally.
Easyish install and the result is great. More direct, no slop. Dont think was needed but got a new guibo installed as well. Its lighter so less rotating mass and less work for the engine. The engine bay got a quick degrease. Got a quick snap of it being lit up by the LED work light in the lot. |

I figured I’d be part of the way there with trying to service it With the same issues coming up later. With the build MO in part is to simplify so the new driveshaft did that too. Weighing the option- seemed like a reasonable thing to do. The end result is worth it iMho. There is a reason the f80s came with CF units as well. I’m just infusing later gen tech into earlier cars. |

Hey D, quick question on your Bimmerworld subframe mounts. Another user mentioned something about them being taller than the OE bushings, and resulting in either a slight increase in the rear height, or a slight spread between things like the chassis and the differential. Does that sound at all right to you or like perhaps installation error? I reckon you were happy with their fitment and design.

Aside from that, I did not note any odd install issues. |

A few updates since last post.
Finally picked up an Akrapovic system, coupe version! It does fit and does so nicely without modification. Just a tad of tension on the middle hangers but great fitment otherwise. DCT pan started leaking again some 40k miles since last service. Seems on par for the OEM part. Came across the Fall-Line Motorsport pan via IND and picked that up. Billet, strong and with more volume. More importantly, the viton o-ring is great. Should be a lasting seal. Interestingly, the Motul DCTF that was drained out looked great. I did change filters and refilled with fresh Motul DCTF. Some Adaptation and clutch relearn afterwards and it shifts great. Moul 300V engine oil change as well. 165k and running strong, track days and all. |

Some fun updates in no particular order.
Went on a great rally though areas just north of Los Angeles, zigzagging across the mountains and the coastline. As the car clicked over 182,000 miles I wanted to see some stats on what was installed when and what Ive done to maintain things (relatively little) The Brembo GT-S System was put on about 80k ago and I've only serviced the fluid. Front pads are almost done, rear still have 50% life and rotors are pretty good too. Its been flawless with no issues though track days, canyon runs, daily driving and rallies. The Motion Control coilovers were installed 55,000 miles ago. Also great. VERY overdue for a rebuild as per their intervals. Ill need to pick a week to take the car down and get those sent out to be rebuilt. Fun experience on this rally is there was a street with unmarked and rather agressive speed bumps. I hopped one, slamming the underside of the car on to it. After the slam - felt as if my engine was hard mounted! Upon inspection - turns out that the Fall-Line DCT pan took the hit phenomenally. The force of the hit was such that my trans mounts were ripped clean apart. Aside from scuffs and the oilpan is perfectly in tact and really saved the driveline. Would've been rather ugly to be stranded there. Brembo GT-S System, now with new Motorsport Hardware stud kit Last edited by dmitriyo; 11-25-2021 at 08:28 PM.. |

I continue to hammer the car at track days. Weather now is great in the LA area.
Im still learning it and pushing it, but it continues to prove to be a phenomenal machine. A sedan that packs a bunch of stuff and that goes round and round on track - cant beat that. Running the RT660 Tires currently and they perform well. Feel like they have a lot of grip and dont get squishy too fast. For anyone wanting to do SoCal tracks - the SoCalDrivers club is a great event host. Limited car count, well priced and OPEN TRACK all day. Designed for intermediate to advanced people, but also open to entry level drivers. Just a great crowd and organization. Also - something in the works here as well. Ive always wanted to try designing wheels and got a chance to materialize a concept with help of Titan7. These have been on the car for sometime in 18x10 square config (et25). Some unique features on there as well, not easily seen. Was considering making a highly limited run of these. |
