The M5 mod is not just an increased stroke (by 8mm), but also an increased bore (well buy just 1mm, but still). It also requires messing seriously with the intake, and based on the interview in the OP, that might not be necessary for the M3.
http://www.dinancars.com/store/High-...59-p-3835.html Also, this is not a mod of your current engine. This is a modified new engine. I don't know if they require you trade your engine in; I assume they do. Would most likely be at least $25k for the M3 if not more. If they use the same parts in the M3 mod as they used in the M5 mod, which is what he seems to be saying in the video, that would mean M3 engine's displacement would go up to 4.5 liters.

why give you a break? Why not charge a lot if people are willing to pay it? The biggest rip off parts for car are actually wheels. If you really think about it 5k for a set of forged wheels and tires is even more crazy. People here drop 4-6k in rims and dont even think about it. Granted if I had the cash I would do the same thing but you make it sound like Dinan is the only company selling overpriced items.
My Dinan exhaust runs about the same money as the Eisenmann yet I dont ever hear people compaing about the price of the Eisenmann like they do with Dinan why is this. I Know the eisenmann all shiny underneath and "look" nicer but Dinan does not "look" as good but the quality on both is top notch. The other nice thing about Dinan is that they are truthfull about HP claims instead of lying like most comapnies about fake unproven gains. I have heard both exhaust and have the Dinan on my car and I really like the Eisenmann as well so this is nothing against them as I am just making a point. Basically all cosmetic mods are the biggest rip-off IMO. A CF engine cover for $500 that is more crazy that some Dinan performance parts IMO.

They've got some badass engineering going on there. I respect Steve Dinan a lot more after watching that.

You are correct in that some BMW dealers are Dinan approved service centers. As a matter of fact, a majority of the Dinan dealers across the country are authorized BMW dealers as well. There are two Dinan/BMW dealers within 45 minutes where I live.

A lot of people dont really understand that the R34 GTR had basically the same performance advantage over the E46 M3 that the new R35 has over the E92 M. Not much has changed. People act like like the GTR wooping ass is something new. The R34 could keep up with the Porsche's, Ferrari's, and Vettes of its era. Its amazing how US marketing and journalism have hyped the GTR in the US. Jason

I wonder if the crank is replaced or has offset ground rod journals? Carrillo rods are nice pieces. I wonder who the vendor is for the pistons?

The stroke of the piston is increased, and hence the displacement goes up.

Wow I'm seriously looking into this. This is really bad ass. But I'm sure they will offer maybe 2 stages. One to push the HP to around 450-465 at around $9500. And the final stage at 520 for around $13,500. No way this will sell for $20k cause the market is M3 owners not M6 owners.
100hp more will do a lot for this already incredible machine. With the new dual clutch transmission, the stock M6 will have a hard time staying with it. This is excellent news!

it'll probably cost as much as another M3.
for that money(say I have the new M3), I'll just buy an E46 M3 and put that motor in the trunk. like that dual-engine tiburon. 1/4mile in 9sec biatttch.
