Im doing my first coilover installation and have had no issues doing all the steps properly, but I have absolutely no clue how to tighten the center bolt in the camber plate. I bought two top strut nut tools but they don’t fit in the hole. KW installation manual is useless, no DIY video mentions it and I’m just left with the generic instruction to torque everything to factory spec. So the top strut nut between the camber plates should be 63nm? But how to torque it? Is it already torqued by KW? I’m totally clueless, will admit im stupid if anyone can suggest the obvious I’m missing

There are some options. An impact works in a hurry or with limited tools, but risks damage to the rebound adjustment mechanism. Or a mid to deep offset box end with a socket or another box end as the counter. I thought a 6 point socket on the strut shaft had better engagement than a 12 point box end. Another option for the top nut is a torque adapter on a torque wrench.
The nut can be tightened with the camber plate removed. If the nut is over-torqued the rebound adjustment mechanism will stretch and rebound adjustment will be more difficult. It's best to get close to the spec. KW has torque specs in their instructions according gauge and pitch of different threaded fasteners. |

But torque values are still not clear to me, the nut I’m supposed to tighten is 22mm. None of the figures shown on the install manual “piston rod nut chart torque” mention a 22mm nut. Unless M14x1.5 is the equivalent of a 22mm outer diameter? Rest of instructions mention to use stock torque values, so I guess 63nm for top strut nut. But then I’m not 100% on this and don’t want to over tighten it. Terrible install manual tbh UPDATE: Alright, so called KW support from two different countries. Had them confirm the top strut nut is M14x1.5 (so 22mm OD I guess). So on the basis of KW install manual chart, the torque figure for the piston rod nut is 50nm. Will decompress spring, remove four camber plate torx bolts, remove silver plate and torque wrench it to this figure with the specialised open socket tool while holding the center but with a closed wrench. UPDATE #2: These bolts come pre-torqued to 50nm. Did all of the above, torque wrench clicked at 50nm on both sides. Huge waste of time. KW could really benefit from new illustrators.
