Audio Upgrade Install Feedback Requested
Hi All,
Ask: Looking for feedback/guidance on how difficult it would be to install a system in a previous e92 335i into my e90 M3. I’m fine with most mechanical work, but audio is one area I lack experience and knowledge. Can anyone chime in with thoughts/tips or even guides that could help this install be a DIY job? Background: I removed a system from my 2008 335i installed by an JL dealer/installer prior to selling the car and would like to reinstall in my 2008 e90 M3. The components I’ve removed have been sitting and I’d like to get them installed into the M3, but I’ve been quoted ~$700 for install. I’d like to take the plunge and try and do this myself and increase my audio install experience. I have the following components: JL FIX82 JL XD600/1 JL 12W3v3-2 (in box) All wiring from previous install Thank you! |

My guess is your non-M did not have logic 7, and the M does. This would likely be the biggest obstacle, as the signal going from HU to oem amp in L7 is optical, and not an analog signal you can directly tap into.
The e90post (non-M) has a plethora of info, and would recommend perusing those forums for some helpful info.

There may be a PnP harness from Technics to simplify the install, something to look into.
