Yes, also an Omego Planet Ocean - Clarkson does like his watches and a PO is a good one to add to the mix (I have one )

Actually, if you read all his articles and books and go through his previous video reviews (I have been watching Top Gear since '92) he is not too fond of BMWs since he finds them a bit clinical. But he does respect their abilities and does like the M cars. Even though he admits that BMWs are great cars, he keeps stressing that he would never buy one (check out the cars he has owned in the past - Escort RS Cosworth, Mercs, Jags, Ferrari, Ford GT and a Gallardo now)

Guys Top Gear is for entertainment. They say whatever gives good ratings with little of their personal opinions. That's what I think.

He did list the BMW M5 as one of his favourite cars last year:
http://motoring.aol.co.uk/clarksons-...15094709990007

And, I thought I read somewhere that he owns one, but I can't find the reference.

1. I think it is obvious he was talking to Brits more than folks all around the world.
2. There is still quite some truth to the whole "cocks" thing even in the US, maybe not those particular lame shades but still some truth.
3. If the shoe fits, put it on.

There is at least a soupçon of truth in all clichés. It gets worse once you start discussing the second-hand market. In less than a year's time we will start to see E92 M3's that have undergone the following involuntary conversions:

a) Blacked-out windows
b) Hideous "cosmetic" modifications (chrome wheels [perhaps even the kind that spin round when you're stationary], paint jobs, bodykit etc.)
c) Boot-space replaced by megawatt bass system (used with windows down for the benefit of others)

In short, the M3 will start to look a little more like the C63

Clarkson wears that Planet Ocean Omega on most of the episodes. I was going to buy one too but then I saw the Breitling Chronograph Evolution in two tone rose gold, black dial... omg, i fell in love and 6 months of E92 M3 payments are on my wrist

Absolutely. We have seen many examples already from AC and Arqray as well as that idot cruising around Germany with the "M stripes". You can't really buy having taste and style. You can buy it, but not "having it".

On the bright side, most of the people who add their own, unique style to these cars can't really afford them until they have four or five years of depreciation behind them, so we should get a few years of muppet free motoring before they buy their way into the club. And then we can just sell up and move into a new RS4...

Still am kinda leaning towards the C63 just becaue of that raw power, but M3 is nice too. If i could buy one, it would probably be the merc.

Awesome, I still wish the M3 would also be the fastest in a straight line. I'm sure the M-DCT will help but not enough to catch the Merc. However, I rather have the faster track car so all is good.

What's wrong with blacked out windows? I think it makes certain colors look very aggressive and sleek. Here's my 05 M3:
