A few of us are heading down to Barber for the Porsche Masters Course. Can't wait - it's gonna be a blast, and hopefully, we'll learn how to drive our incoming GT3 even faster!

I do not understand would the point would be. You'll have the best car they can offer and can probably source equal or better instruction locally. So what are they offering that you do not have? Or is it just the most convenient way to drive that particular track?

The point is quite simple - get an earlier start to the track season, drive the track and get to use their cars.... can't do that locally

Good enough excuse for me to get away and go to the track

Better instruction locally? That California sun must have fried your brain!

Guys like Kees Nierop, James Gue and Dane Cameron instruct at these events. Maybe you should read up on what these guys have done. I don't know many drivers in Canada who regularly race in ALMS, Grand-Am etc that instruct locally. The point of this school in particular is to learn real car control skills - stuff that you wouldn't learn at a BMW club or Porsche event. Thats why these classes are SCCA accredited and club courses aren't.

I see. That makes sense. I was thrown off by seeing just one two-day course as a pre-requisite to the Masters course, so thought that it's more like Porsche sales-focused thing.

BTW, you probably can get coaching from Kees Nierop locally - he does lessons outside of Porsche school I've heard.

^ we are doing the masters course. It is the pre-requisite to the masters plus course. And it's better than doing locally cause we will be driving someone else's manual GT3s.

No love for Cayuga/toronto motorsports park? I plan on going there lots cuz its CHEAP lol.

Very interested in Mosport days as well if you can swing a group rate there or something. I tried asking last year and they gave me the cold shoulder. Hate dealing with Apex & the track said deal with Apex

I also really want to see that new GT3 U GUYZ!

Yup - pretty much no love for Cayuga. It's cheap for a reason....

We're working on seeing what we can do for some days at Mosport. The new DDT may end up being pretty cool from what we've seen. Almost the same length as the big track, with more turns! We'll definitely be doing days up at Calabogie - nothing beats CMP!

As for the GT3, which one you talking about? There will be at least three new ones among the group, and that's not even including Max's who's car is almost here!

Well I'm gonna go to CAyuga like a cheap whore for a cheap fix IF it sucks, I won't go again. IT's 3km long and its only an hour away! Maybe I'll be all spoiled with CMP, that really is a great track, wish it was closer. Maybe I'll make the trip again this year, who knows?

They redid the DDT? I'd go to that if it is indeed longer, last time I was there it was fun but way too short/slow for M3s and GT3s!

So far I just knew you and Jay were getting one, who else has the bug?

Cayuga just gets monotonous after a while. The track is perfectly flat, so it lacks character. I do enjoy turn one and the little chicane at Cayuga. But at least you're getting out to the track! You may also want to consider the PhoenixCMR day at Watkins Glen. Its a bit closer than CMP, and the event is well run. The Glen is an amazing track.

CMP hasn't announced their dates, so we're going to be figuring out who can do when in the next month or so. With Chumpcar on the horizon, we may not get out there as much as we like.

The new DDT is an entirely new course. They ripped up all of the old track, and paved a new 1.6 mile course. It's the same length as the big track, and it looks like it's gonna be a faster but still retain its technical nature. We're hoping to do 3-4 days there, and if its as fun as it looks, we may get out there a lot more in the coming years. Here's the new track layout.

As for GT3, Jaypod and I are both getting 991 GT3. I'm hoping to do ED at the end of March, but my build got delayed. Ahsanh also got a 997.2 GT3 (I'm actually pretty jealous - his car is nice!), and I know at least one other guy who's still shopping around for one.

Ya I might just join you for the Glen. Everyone tells me its the shizzle () and I definitely need to go there. Can probably afford to this year too.

The new DDT looks great! I'd totally go multiple times. Any track time is good track time Glad they kept that super tight switchback at the bottom, that was my favourite corner.

Check it out if you can - www.phoenixcmr.com. The rate is amazing for two days, and if you're in the intermediate/advanced group, you get 40 minute sessions. Because you're a first timer, you can even choose to do just one day instead of both days. Joe runs an awesome day, and you get to see all sorts of cars from race-prepped corvettes, old american muscle, BMW and a few porsches too.

Sounds pretty good, but I'm not seeing any rates on their site. You got a ball park for me in a per day rate?

One day is not enough at the Glen…you need both. You will hate yourself if you have to leave after the first day.

That's a great price, cheaper than CMP!

CMP dates have been posted! Looks like there are fewer days this year at CMP than ever and I can already see a few conflicts with our race schedule for the year.

If you're interested in getting some days, please PM me so we can make group pricing and arrangements.
