Tune2Air / Spotify no longer uses HU buttons?

Looking to see if anyone has insight here. At some point Tune2Air and Spotify stopped showing artist/track info on iDrive and steering wheel and head unit controls no longer change tracks. Volume buttons work.

Car is a 2008 (CCC), I'm on latest iOS iPhone 7 with latest Spotify app. I've tried resetting my Tune2Air and bluetooth connections.

Is there a setting I'm missing or is this no longer supported as of some software update?

Do you have any tracks in your iTunes library?

I noticed that steering wheel controls and track names would not work unless I had at least one song in my iTunes music library.

That's it, thank you! It probably stopped working about the same time I deleted iTunes from my phone because I was sick of it fighting with the apps I was using. Just restored iTunes and all good.

Guessing there is no work around still to prevent iTunes from taking priority? I know about the silent track method to at least keep it quiet while selecting preferred app.

Cool, glad you got it working. Took me forever to figure that out! I haven't figured out a work around yet and I always check for firmware updates for the unit but none have been released.

How do you update the firmware?

I have an android phone and play pandora through the tune2air...I'm hoping one day I'll have a nice surprise and be able to control pandora (and least skip songs) through the steering wheel buttons.

I have an iPhone and as long as I have a song in the library I can skip songs using spotify. That's pretty much how I listen to all my music.

Here is the site for the firmware, if they ever do have an update:

You need to register to be able to see it. BTW my model is the WMA3000.

Bumping an older thread to ask:

If I only have aux input will I be able to change songs? I just purchased tune2air 3000B and it seems to work the same like my other $30 Bluetooth Adapter.

I only purchased this so I can control the songs via steering well. If I can I'll most likely just return it and go back to my original one that worked fine but couldn't switch songs.

Thanks!

Unfortunately you need the usb as well. The aux port is purely audio and carries no "logic" to change tracks or display info.

Thanks for the response! Guess I should return it. No point to have a $90 streamer
