noob q: any way to avoid getting a CEL?
So I've been doing research and been on the market for an exhaust system but have learned that any exhaust system I get, I'll also get a CEL which will result in a tune or a delete w.e. My question is, what parts (x pipe, catless, slip ons) can I install on my car to give it a great sound (idk if I can gain gains without a full system) and avoid getting a CEL??
Thanks guys! |

If you run the Innotech setup you will not get a CEL....

You can run any axleback exhaust you want, you'll never get a CEL

You also won't get much power. The most expensive and arguably the best axle back, the titanium Akra, claims 3 rwhp. They sound nice, though. BMW just claims a "more powerful sound" for its very expensive axle back.
If you want power, consider a pulley, a filter, a midpipe and a tune. What midpipe will add power but not trigger a CEL and preserve readiness for plug in OBD2 inspection is a good question. My understanding is that you either need high flow cats (probably 300 cell) before the rear 02 or a tune with rear 02 simulation. Not many midpipes have HFC before the rear 02 (not even the Akra) and not many tuners can simulate the rear 02. M3DCTBT says he has some suggestions and I am considering them. |

i guess what i really want is the sound since gains would probably only happen if i got a full exhaust system. But something like the rpi gtm exhaust back axle would provide a huge exhaust sound improvement right?

yes that retains your factory primary cats so decreases the amount of gain you would get. it also requires cutting the stock exhaust to fit behind the primary cats.

If you're only looking for sound and not power then any axle back exhaust will work but as soon as you do a cat delete (removal of cats) then yes you will get a cel and need a tune to remove the cel.
