My Cic shit the bed and I'm interested as well in options.

Has anyone replaced a CIC with aftermarket head unit and what happens to the stock screen in the double hump (I've got EPS)

Hey, dealer said they tested the unit and it's not emitting light into the MOST ring. No sounds or visual as a result (screen is dark as most loop is broken). They found no other issues so it is just the head unit.

I doubt you can replace with aftermarket head unit as there's just too much of the car's functions integrated into iDrive, eg lock and light controls, chime volume, equalizer settings, etc. You're probably better off finding a used unit on eBay.
