hmm
that's not reassuring
seller told me he changed the battery about 6 months before selling to me (Dec 2017 ish)
Could it be that the battery was just sitting around for that long before it got sold and installed? or did the seller sneak that one by me?

Battery was probably sitting. Mine was made in 2012 also, 49th week I believe but mine is going strong still

Today, I was unknowingly forced into a Valet-only parking situation. Needless to say I'm not happy about this situation when I drop off the car. After I'm given my ticket, I linger around for a moment to keep an eye on my baby. The gentleman who got in my car was a rather large (I'm being modest - extremely large) fellow who, of course, moved my seat way out of place.

Then, after a moment of the car not moving I knew something was up. I walked over to the car and opened the door to kindly instruct him how to engage Drive (DCT). I caught him fumbling about with the selector and the paddles for a moment but he must not have had his foot on the brake because he was still having trouble. Finally, I managed to help him get it over to D1. I politely let him know that I'm a bit precious about this car as it took me a while to find [this particular spec] but he assured me I'm in good hands. I close the door and, yet again, the car doesn't move. He then tries to pull away without disengaging the parking brake. Ugh.

I pop the door back open and show him where it is, and again he assure me I'm in good hands. Sure.

In the end, my car was returned without any new issues - thankfully. I'll certainly allow extra time to self-Park if I ever go back to this location.

On an unrelated side note, I did manage to snap this quick pic, too!

i haven't had to valet park my car yet ...
(to be fair, i've only had the m3 for less than 1 year)
i've even taken uber or other transportation when i knew the place i'm going to would be valet only and not have an easy alternate parking option

but i know there will come a time when i have no choice but to valet

ugh... why are there two different parts?
they list the same cars ... they both look like the inner tail lights ...
the only difference is in the description one says
trunk lid v. lift gate ...

which is the right part number?

Let's see... went to the dealership and ordered a tail light outer gasket since I found a puddle in my amp compartment yesterday. (Been raining here in the Bay Area CA)

Removed the two front struts to get my swift springs installed.

Ordered Zimmerman rotors, pads and sensors from ecs.

My first time wrenching on the m3.

It was a little less than 1k for the Zimmerman rotors and StopTech street pads shipped.

Garage List
2011 BMW E92 M3  [0.00]
Even though the car has not been driven since early November, I vacuumed it... Yes, I climbed into the car and vacuumed it even though it was pretty clean when I put it away...

Then I put Rain-X on the front and back windows...

Then I literally just stared at it for a while.

So happy we just about beat an 80 year old record for the coldest stretch of February weather here. Let us hope this can be taken as a sign of an early spring...

Patiently waiting for the weather to turn, the snow to melt and the sweepers to get rid of all of the GD ROCKS they put on the roads every winter.

On a positive note, it is blue skies and calm, and -19C is actually warmer than it has been.

Ok, done whining.

Cheers,

Changed spark plugs. Wasn't as bad as made out to be. In fact, with the cat 5 cable method, the rear coils are the easiest to remove since you can use the strut braces for leverage. Didn't notice any difference in running on 37k mile plugs, although they looked pretty dirty.

Also removed the full rear seat. Wow the rear seat has some amazing sound insulation!
