Its actually pretty good on gas until you get up above and stay 5k RPM. Then it inhales it.

Wow, these numbers all are better than my S4 (15 MPG highway, max). I did not realize getting the M3 would be so green!

I get on average about 14mpg but that is all city driving. When I get some hwy in there than I am usually around 17mpgs. And I drive my car pretty hard to be honest!

I drive the car mostly on the faster side. Honestly, it needs a 7th gear for the manual trans (a la new Porsche 911). Not sure why the M-DCT w/another gear isn't better on gas?

Let's face it - the car was designed for performance w/out much concern for mileage. That's shifted now w/the move toward smaller engines and turbos. However, there's nothing like having a screaming V-8 in a small car. To echo a reaction from my coworker "That car has a V-8? That's awesome." I agree with him. It's awesome.

Just finally finished breaking in my ///M3 (6 spd) today and getting ~15 mpg overall (250 miles on a full tank). I do about 75% of my driving in the city and 25% on the freeway and usually in MDM 99% of the time.
