2008 M3 - Value?
Hi,
I have a 2008 M3 with about 20,000 miles on the clock and I’m thinking about selling it in the new year so I’ve done a bit of research as to what I might get for it. I was thinking about £30K but came across this one for sale on Autotrader, whoever’s selling it seems to be asking a lot (in my opinion): http://autotrader.co.uk/classified/a...ge/1?logcode=p Is £35,500 about right for one with 11,000 miles or is he asking way too much. What price should i expect privately.... M |

Mine (2008) cost me £30k with 19k this month, fully specced, and approved used from a main dealer, with 2 years warranty.
Privately, you'll be around £28k....but start at £30k. |

Your car is low mileage so you should be able to sell for around £28K privately but prices are due to fall again once the new 61 plate comes out in September.
The one in the link is way over priced.

I have a 2010 DCT done 6000 miles and if someone offered me a couple of grand more than the one advertised I'd snap there hand off so way overpriced for a private sale (no mention of EDC either)

funny this...................
as on the "Cutters" forum - they're saying 25k will buy you a low mileage fully loaded E92 M3 and 20-22 will get you a higher mileage one I don't agree(personally)

Not sure mate it's not my car, I just noticed it for sale. Had it been 6 months from now I'd have been all over it. Then again the way things are going in 6 months from now it would be up for 20k or less!

OP - there is no way of predicting what your car will be worth in the new year which is still 4 months away. Earlier this year M3's were losing £950 per month before prices shored up again. I tried to get a price for my car for a PX on a new car in late Sept a few months ago and no one would give me a guaranteed price 4 months out such was the fluctuations in prices.

Price
I used Parker's guide when buying my M3 this year. Chose a nice spec 08 plate with 13500 miles. Main dealer. Cost me 33k. Private for the same was 28k, but dealer sorted new tyres, service, mot, clearcoat, four wheel alignment (which took two hours of the tech's time), plus some other stuff; and I have dealer warranty.
I'm happy with that. |

That was an Excellent price in today’s market not sure if you've looked on the AUC web site lately but with over 140 M3s for sale and good colour/spec DCTs being advertised at below £45K for 11 Plates and >£40K for 10 Plate Cars Great time to buy an M3 but not so good if your trying to sell.

Prices vary and dealers and traders are offering as low as £20K for M3's. I still get calls from dealers asking if my car is for sale.
I spoke to the Sytner Group Buyer when I was trying to sell my one and at the time he said that the max they would offer would be £23K! There is a clear decline in residuals for the car and he said it would only get worse. It's very difficult to predict what your car will be worth in 4 months time. If you are looking to buy another BMW then trade in/part ex may be the best deal you can get against a new or nearly new car.

I think the car the op poster is a tad over priced however it really depends if it's the perfect car for you. Can you find another exact colour interior and exterior and spec and how long can you wait for another if this sold.
I found that was a thing to take into account when I was buying. However if that car was around 30k that'd be abit more close to the private Market price i think, however you can pick them up for 20odd k depending if it's the right car though. Good luck on your quest |
