First of all thank you for great pics and information of how to accomplish.
I think your a 767 driver, and that would make perfect sense. All of your pics and info look like they were done by a professional pilot, solid instructions along with backing explanation. Sir I'm very impressed with the work and, very jelly of your job - I fly too, but much smaller aircraft - B36 and C180 although not current. Thanks again, Merlin

Hi there.
Sorry for ressurrecting this topic, but my engine had a stuck injector too, but didn't blow the engine. I'm afraid it caused some damage, I don't know how to discover. So, thing was this: I was at 8,000RPM and emergency mode was activated, and I ran more 300 meters, and stopped the car. I decided to shutoff the engine. I tried to start the car like 5 times, no success, only cranking, no burning. Then I towed it home. At home, I tried to start more 6 or 7 times after cold, no success. Towed to Indy Shop, detected one stuck injector. Corrected the faulty injector, put the engine to run, but it still runs rough, like misfiring all cylinders. I'm afraid there is engine damage. What do you guys think? Think it ran too much with the stuck injector? Or the time wasn't enough to make damage? |

We suspect that the problem was: The previous owner said that he never used premium gas, only regular 87 octane fuel, without cleaning aditives. I thought it would be good to start changing the fuel to 87 octane with cleaning aditive little by little. When I went away to work, leaving the car home stopped for 2 weeks, the fuel system may have loosen dirt, which ended up going to the injector nozzle and stuck it. So the fuel tank was drained and we put an advanced cleaner with 5L of premium gas, ran the engine, idling for some time to clean the system. Now I'm only running 97 octane premium fuel. Besides that, we changed the oil and filter to avoid problems with fuel contamination in the oil. |

need some insight...
I'm new to this forum and in fact I'm about 3 days new to ownership of my dream car a 2008 e92 m3 DCT fitted with a relatively recently installed vf620 supercharger. 70k miles. What a ride its been... I picked up the car in Iowa (i live in Alabama) and i drove it to Kansas City to stay with some buddies from college. We'll about 500 miles into my trip to KC, right outside of KC (luckily) the car went into limp mode. I was under WOT and at about 6000 rpm the car just fell flat on its face, went into limp mode and shut off as soon as the clutch was engaged. long story short I got the car running, emptied what was left of sh*ty Iowa gas (the car was really too close to empty when I decided to open it up for a stretch which was a definite learning experience for me), ran some injector cleaners and got her home to Alabama putting only ethenol free 91 or 93 and keeping the tank above half full (i filled up 6 times that trip...). As soon as I got into town it went into limp mode again..only this time it was not under load it was as soon as I got off the interstate. The car sputtered on home. The main code that faulted is P2290 "Injector Control Pressure Too Low" which lead me to believe I simply need to order and install a new Fuel Pump Control Module, esp. being that this was an issue with the 2008's. While I'm waiting for that to come in the car is sputtering and misfiring like crazy and blowing a bunch of white smoke. Reading this thread makes me think I have perhaps a more serious fuel injector issue perhaps in conjunction with the fuel pump control module. The car also has a bit too much oil in it that I need to syphon. Is that why the white smoke?? The car is totally catless and no muffler (it's mental!!) so the smell of gas in pungent... but now I don't know what to think... the VF620 should come with upgraded injectors right?? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!! |

Little over a year ago right before I sold my M3 I had the same problem happen to me. I had two injectors get stuck wide open. Luckily there wasn't any damage to the motor and was able to sell it before anything else happened (i.e. rod bearings).
Click the IG link below to see the video. The video is my old M3. It shows the injectors getting stuck and dumping fuel into the motor. |

Well... boy do I feel like I’ve got a whole in my heart.
So today I got the new (used) fuel pump control module in. It was off a used 2010 m3. I installed it and started the car and wow did it feel better. Idle was back up to around 900 (was at 500-600) and the car didn’t smell of any unburnt fuel like before. I warmed it up and drove a little ways and could tell an immediate and vast difference in the smoothness of acceleration and throttle control...and after about 2 miles....LIMP MODE AGAIN. The car was running beautifully after replacing that fuel pump module, that was definitely an issue... but now what? I putted on over to the local BMW specialist and hope to know something tomorrow.. I have Bosch’s Green Giant fuel injectors. I had no engine misfire codes. Regardless I asked the mechanic to check that first. He doesn’t think it’s fuel injectors but I told Home in need peace of mind regardless... |

The rob bearings were replaced a little over 10k miles ago though. So long as I change the oil to get any fuel that may be in there, out, i’d Think I’m fine on that front.

Well when I got the car to the mechanic I did have a misfire code this time. He checked compression and found I was 30psi down on I believe he said cylinder 2... so he will be performing a leak down test. I don't know what could have happened. the car is DCT so I don't see how I could have bent a valve. unless some metal broke off in the supercharger?? I'm just praying the cylinder and cylinder walls look ok. So all I know now is I definitely did have 2 issues and #2 could be very bad.
