VT650 + DCT as daily driver and tracking
Iv been looking around and found a few posts here that say the do's and don'ts with a supercharger and overall reliability at the drag strip. Except I haven't found a thread yet for my specific question. And I want to ask before I make the purchase. How does the DCT hold up under the new sc at the track? After repeatedly down shifting and up shifting and really abusing it. Also, when your not on the track how many miles can you put on it as a daily driver? I currently have 30,000 miles on it now and track maybe 5 times in the whole year. I want to keep it for at least 100,000 miles, and thinking that adding a sc might not be practical, although this is why im asking. Thanks in advance if someone could help me out.

this ^ With the ESS 650 kit, the M3 with the DCT is at it limits. Incredible but also fragile. You need to always run sufficient octane, inspect the car regularly, change the oil frequently (particularly after track days), etc and the car will treat you well. I haven't had any problems in 9,000 miles so I recently upgraded from the 625 kit to the 650 kit and I beat the living snot out of this car as its mostly used for tracking and roll-on accelerations events.

I don't have any personal experience with that kit and I doubt you will find anyone that has put 100K supercharged miles on any M3, but I would be cautious about springing for the highest HP rated supercharger kit on a car that you want to last to 100K.
Personally, I would go for a kit that doesn't run the motor and drivetrain to the ragged edge. ESS' VT1-550, VT2-585, or VT2-620 kits would all be far better choices for your intended use. |

Interesting. I was thinking that someone would recommend a lower hp. Has anyone had any experience with stroking the engine? Making it still naturally aspirated but more hp, preferably close to 550? How's the reliability on something like that?

Unless I'm mistaken, the Dinan stroker kit is as reliable as stock, except you get less power for a lot more money :/

I have the AA 640hp kit, and have experienced no issues. However, using it as a daily driver I wonder if fuel mileage may be an issue for you. I'm getting about 180 miles from full before it's time to fill up. I do have another car to drive so it's not that great an issue to me. That being said, the added power and performance is incredible.

I daily drive my car with the 625 kit and get ~180-220 miles per tank.
