Bottom line is if they were capable, I can almost guarantee that 90% of 3 series owners would want an M3. Thats just life, thats just how it goes and how its supposed to be. All that u 3 series guys have to know is that there is always gonna be that 1 car on top of urs. No matter what u do to it.

ALL manufacturers rate HP at the flywheel, before the drivetrain.

It's not like BMW is lying. They're playing by the same rules that everyone else abides by.

Hey i had an 07 Audi A4 with software, turbo back exhaust, blah blah blah....And it made 260 hp and 280 torque...Now with a 4wd drivetrain loss...

I dont even want to think about the wheel hp and torque to the wheels i was generating.....anyways...

E9x M3 FTW!

I normally don't chime in when there is an individual making comments that has no idea what they are talking about. Next if you are such a BMW hater, then whey do you even belong to the M3 Forum??? You made a comment about having to rev the engine on a M3 to get the horse power; No shit Sherlock, a real performance engine developes peak performance in the higher rpm ranges. Cars that generally have a high red line tend to have lower torque ratings, but with the higher rpm ratings tends to make up the difference from the lower torque especially in with the top end speeds. Yes the high torque, high hp Z06 Corvette is a bad ass in a straight line and for some on the curves or track. I've been BMW driver for well over 20 years, these cars have NEVER been built for the drag race or the red light to red light as you mentioned. I have a Vette and yea I can verify that its a bad ass in a straight line, but put it up in the mountains against the my new M3 and you can forget it, the M3 will out shine the vette all day. I've been in and out of Europe for over 30 years with the military and now as a civilian, and we don't give a rats ass about 1/4 mile times for our M3 or any other Bimmer that I drive. We live to drive the autobahn where most of the autobahn has no speed limits. Something that you probably don't know anything about!! No the M3 is not the bad ass of the world, but for what you pay for a M3 and the quality and performance its very hard to beat. Since I'm guessing that you probably don't even really own a BMW or you would not be talking so much shit. BMW does live up to its name; THE ULITIMATE DRIVING MACHINE!!!!

I hate to alarm you, but there's no excuse for 300Bhp on an E9x M.

You may be right, but then that means that dozens of car magazines got it wrong.

Has the M3 ever been on a dyno that measures drivetrain losses?

Measuring at the hubs it probably the best, even better so if it also can measure the losses.

With this high-revving N/A engine, the airflow is absolutely critical! This thing sucks in air from 3 different places..

Pencilgeek, do you use 100 octane ROZ or RON? 91 ROZ = 98 ROZ?
