2011 M3 used price reasonable?

i found a fully loaded m3 with competition package and two tone interior with 23k miles for 54k
is the price reasonable or too high?
i am also located in socal btw,
and what are your opinions on buying/lease take over of a 335is
and how are the lease terms going to be for the m4 you guys think?

That's a reasonable number, although 49k would be better As a point of reference, I just picked up my 2011 e92 M3 ZCP fully loaded to the gills but with 52k miles. Dealer wanted 49k, I ended up paying 43k. Unsure about the other 2 questions.

I would pass on the 335is. For barely any more money you can get the M3, which is a true benchmark. The 335is will just feel like a fast 3 series...the M3 feels like a totally different car.

+1 I went from a highly modified 335i to an M3 and haven't looked back!

I'd say so. The cheapest 335is on Cars.com for the entire country is $30k with 87k miles. It looks like the average price for an '11 335is with 30k miles is around $44k. Chances are it's a salvage title or had a major wreck with frame damage.

I would say a 2011 M3 with 23k for $54k is a touch high. I've been tracking them for the past 9 months or so and I would say lower 50's would be a better bet. With the new M3/M4 getting ready to drop the E90/92/93 prices should go down as well.

Pass on the 335is. Had one and once I replaced with an M3, it's not chill.

The 54k is a bit high. Get it down to 50-51.

A very low mileage car might actually have more wear and tear than a high mileage one. Mileage is just a number -- it's HOW it got that mileage that matters.

I've seen some 10k M3s that looked horrible and weren't well cared for. Mine had 45k on the clock and looked pristine.

+1. Mine had 52k miles on it(2011) but was owned by a bachelor that commuted 60-80 miles per day for work(all hwy). History was clean with all service records and other than drivers seat, the other seats look like no one ever sat in it. I'd take a higher mileage hwy driven car vs a in-city low mileage car any day of the week(ceteris paribus)

+1 I had a similar experience! Low miles isnt always a good thing either. I always get concerned when I find something that's 4-5 years of age with less than 25 miles. I would rather have one that have been babied as a DD, but I know that it will not have "garage queen symptomes". As so many others have pointed out in other threads, these cars are meant to be driven and run better if they are being used/driven on a regular basis. Also, and older car with low milage might be a sign of a car that has been tracked alot, which in some cases can be fine but the wear and tear can be pretty tough, not to mention if the owner didnt perform the extra maintenance suggested/required on a track car.

It's not "physically impossible".

Short trips are more stressful. Things never come up to temperature, namely the oil. Most auto manufacturers specify a "severe service interval" for cars that are only driven a few miles at a time: oil changes twice as often, more inspections, and so on.

Also, short-tripping on city streets wears the suspension, tires, brakes, etc. down more quickly. Cruising at 75mph does not put much wear and tear on the vehicle, but stop-and-go 25mph stuff does.

Would you really want to have a car that was used to drive around the streets of Manhattan every day for 4 years (and hence maybe only has a few thousand a year)? Extreme example, but it's not outside the realm of possibility with all these low-mileage cars.

Mileage is not the problem. It's the type of mileage that is.

I was looking at a higher mileage '11 ZCP for $47-48k. With those miles and if the car is in nice shape, low 50's would be fair. I would come in and offer $48k expecting to creep up a bit.

And yeah just go for the M3. Although I don't know what a regular 3 series is like.

Simple, car with 1 mile gets wrecked. That's wear and tear.

Or it's a track rat. Or it's never been washed except when the acid rain washes the dirt off from mudriding. Or the guy who drives it weighs 600lbs. Or the last guy used it to tow his boat. Etc.

But yeah typically miles is more important than model year, unless you want certain options and such.

I have a 2012 e92 m3 6MT for sale, its space grey with extended novillo black leather, 16k miles, comp pack, premium pack, cold weather pack, carbon roof, enhanced premium sound, bmw apps, pretty much everything checked on the options except for dct and sunroof... i even got a euro bumper thats been painted by CnC collision installed! let me know bro!

Example... I friend of mine purchased his 2010 M3 new. He only drives it on the weekends and tracks it quite often. Any other time, he drives his c63 or the family truck. His M3 will be for sale very soon and it only has 9000 miles.

A bit high, but after working the dealer you should be able to get that down a few grand. In the end it comes down to what you want to pay for the ride and screw what anyone else thinks....it is your ride.
