Comfort Access Fob Goes Nuts in my Pocket?

Is my Comfort Access Fob going nuts in my pocket?

Anytime approach my M3 I can hear near the gas cap like a "click lock sound" as if I had locked or unlocked the car.

When I unlock and close a door it re-locks, so if I pop the hood close the door, then go to the hood, the alarm goes off because it thinks I am breaking in because the doors are locked.

Is this a sign my fob battery is dieing? or is Comfort Access just that dumb?

If I should replace the fob battery do I need to recode to the car every battery replacement?

No re-code necessary when you replace the fob battery. I keep a few name-brand battery replacements on hand (they're cheap on Amazon) and change 'em about every 6 months.

With electrical gremlins, I would try the battery first and then see how it goes.

I never complain about devices going nuts or vibrating in my pockets. Vibrate mode on phones was the best invention ever (well, after flushable wipes and of course, the S65 M3)...now if I can just get my CA Fob to vibrate on command...

I'd check the car's battery then check the key's battery.

I had a keychain on my fob that would get caught and push the buttons whenever I was walking. Took the damn keychain off and I had no more issues.

Normal behavior if the fob is in your pocket. Some leave the fob out-of-range when washing the car.

Every 6 months?! I've owned my car for 3 years and have never had to change out a battery.

Yeah, 6-months may be excessive but if you've been out and had one go bad on you it seems worth it. Bought on-line in a card of six batteries, these things are only about a buck apiece (CR-2032 I think?)... Beats getting ragged on about your "goofy car" by everyone in the group when you're out wine tasting .

Just put the fob inside the car and that won't happen. Alternatively, just move the fob out of range.

Mine doesn't lock/unlock unless I touch the driver's door handle.

The pockets on my shorts is deep enough for my key fob to touch my nuts. I call that comfort access.
