E92 M3 from Canberra

Hello from an M3 owner in Canberra. I've had a string of BMWs (call me a tragic) but this M3 was new to me about a week ago. It's an '08 in Interlagos Blue on black leather, carbon roof with DCT. Totally stock with only 37K kms, the car has come up very well after a minor detail over the last weekend. The colour totally blew me away when I first saw it out in the sun and I still love it. Getting in and starting it up still gives me a thrill and I know that feeling will only grow. Although still getting to know it, I have some minor 'enhancement' plans for the car and hope to be able to share them here.

I'm not going too far (yeah, sure I hear you now ....). I hope it did not come across that way. Just the usual cosmetic stuff like Performance rear lip, front splitters and LCI tails. New wheels are a must. As mine has EDC, I am keeping it tame with Eibach Prokit springs (they are going in right at this moment ). Also the more serious stuff like exhaust and engine/DCT tune are not far away. I've already had contact with Mr Dee ....

Sure is - too early for autumn colours which will happen in the background of my photo all too soon.

Welcome aboard indeed!

Sounds like we're doing the same mods give or take... :-) I'm running Eibachs too and really like them (although I'd ideally like a slightly bigger drop in the front) and have already done some of the others mods you've mention and love them!

You car will look amazing after the mods so make sure you get some photos up...

Welcome! Great looking beast!

I think I've seen you in Civic before. Your number plate is 3 numbers?

Myself and some others on here catch up every now and then for cruises if you're keen. We usually organise the meets on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1Mand135iAust/)

Update

I've had the opportunity to get a few things done on the car, largely cosmetic, so I thought I would share. The first was fitting up a set of Eibach Pro Kit springs. A tame drop but nonetheless I think it looks a bit better than stock. I'm quite happy with it and it seems to be compatible with EDC. It is a little flatter through the corners and the ride is still quite civilised.

I switched out the halogen globes in the angel eyes to LEDs - I much prefer the 'clean' white look they provide. The old pre-LCI tail lights were ditched in favour of the LCI versions - it certainly updates the appearance of the M3. Topping things off is a genuine BMW carbon lip - this ties in beautifully with the carbon roof and carbon mirror caps.

I was not much of a fan of the stock 19" wheels so those had to go. Deciding on the right set is always a bit of a minefield but I have a thing for the cross-spoke style on BMWs. I decided to take a punt of a set of VMR 810s. They do get a good rap in the US and I quite liked the look of them. In my opinion they are a well made wheel and the finish is very good - I'm more than happy with the decision to go with them. I've gone for gloss gun metal 19 X 9.5" and 19 X 11.0" with 265/35 X 19 and 295/30 X 19. I was a little apprehensive with the rear setup but they have mostly worked out. I do get very minor rub when going over a big dip with 2 up but it is restricted to just the arch liner. Nothing that the Dremel can't fix ..... But they do look so good and those rear arches are certainly filled out!

Looking good! Love the look.
Am waiting on a set of 710s myself in your sizes. Interesting that you went with 265/35 as your fronts have a larger diameter than your rears now.... guessing you chucked the stock rear up front though. No rubbing at the front?

I asked VMR USA for their advice on wheel and tyre sizes for E92 M3 and they suggested exactly what I went for. Yes, the fronts were the OEM rears and are just slightly larger in diameter compared to the rears - by 8 mm only - in my new setup. That in no way effects their performance and it is certainly not something anyone would ever notice - you'd never pick that up visually. No rubbing at the front either and I have tested it on full lock in both directions.

I am sure you will have a similar result with your 710s; good luck with them!

Looks heaps better Jon!

May I suggest adding BMW roundels to the centre caps over the VMR's? (is it possible?)

Thanks Shane. Yeah, I plan to do that - the OEM centre caps are a direct fit and I have new ones on the way as the originals weren't perfect.

They do indeed look awesome... I've currently got the same setup on my car except 265/30s upfront. Tell me... is that some negative camber I see in the photos? If so, be keen to know what your settings are?
