There are over 1,000 carbon plenums that were sold worldwide - 2% of E9X M3s ever sold are running one, and you barely see them up for sale unless an owner parts out.

There's enough statistical relevance to support the carbon plenums and its value proposition are absolutely loved by its owners.

There's no confirmation bias in having organized a GB - I did it for my personal car first and I would have bought it anyways. It just so happens that 50 + M3 owners then immediately agreed it was good value and followed through.

There is confirmation bias in having ridden in a single carbon plenum equipped car within the framework of comparing it to your SC'ed car. Of course your SC is more valuable for you, power is what matters to you.

SC'ed aren't track ready at all, they need insane amounts of supporting cooling mods to address the overheating issues. The overwhelming majority of SC M3s are street cars.

We get it, you don't see the value - in the context of OP's question; is it worth it?

Yes, if enhancing the S65's DNA matters to you, you will adore the plenum.

If you value HP, this isn't it - yet not a single plenum manufacturer promises gains outside of complete race boxes from Motorsport24.

The main complaint about the plenum is the high up front price vs. the horsepower gain returned. I believe all of the plenum manufacturers out there are pretty transparent that there are zero gains with the mod. The mod is purely for noise and aesthetics. To counter the "high price" complaint about the plenum, I chimed in with my experience of selling for what I paid and, since you asked, I went back and looked at my receipts.
  • Plenum with the M Emblem $2,007
  • Discount for being an MGruppe member ($240.84)
  • Shipping was $42.00
  • Total I paid was $1,808.16 all in

I then sold it for $1,850 to a member here which included shipping so, I stand by my statement that I sold it for 100%, or close to, what I paid.
That's fair, and to each their own. I've stated before that I enjoy the sound, but it's just not my thing, so cheers and happy you enjoyed it while you had it!

Now sell that Porsche and go find another used E9X M3 hah!

Ha, people have asked me how the 997.2 compares to the M3 and while the M3 chassis is impressive, I think the 911 is a step ahead in that area. I will say the flat six in the 911 can't touch the S65. The S65 really is an all-time motor and I do miss it.

So yeah, to answer the OP, no.
Wow, really?? I'd say you've been missing out the last 7 years.

A cornerstone highlight of the great, high revving NA M engines was their induction noise, even in stock form. From the S70 in the McLaren F1, the S54 in the E46, to the S65/S85, one of the major features provided by the individual throttle bodies was the distinct roar when the throttle is opened. On some cars, like the E46, the only redeeming noise you could get from the car was from the intake, imo. I never heard an exhaust that sounded great on that car. The induction noise, however, was to die for, especially with a carbon plenum. See Top Gear's iconic CSL review, circa 2003/4 on the Isle of Man. Ditto for even the god like McLaren F1. The amazing sound from that car was the induction note, not the exhaust. Don't take my word for it, ask Gordan Murray.

Unlike the E46, the E9x has the rare ability to produce an amazing intake AND exhaust sound. To completely ignore one or the other is your loss and, honestly, a shame given very very few cars can make such an intoxicating induction roar like the S65 can.

To me, the up front cost of the Eventuri plenum I had was well worth it. The fact that I sold it a year after I bought it for damn near 100% of what I paid meant I got one year of unbelievable enjoyment and glorious intake noise for free.
I've owned E46 M3's or E92 M3 for the last 15 years straight. So I'm familiar with the noises they make. I'll still file induction noise under "neat".

I'm supercharged now anyway. So the sc sounds like an offbeat, misaligned, mechanical grinding. The 600+ hp is nice though.

The whole supercharger debate vs a carbon plenum is stupid. If the OP wanted more power he would have asked SC vs carbon plenum. It's for the noise and drama if that's worth 1.5- 3k to the OP then get it you won't be disappointed.

and here is the MGruppe owners club. Not sure if the membership still gets you the discount but it did back in 2019 when I bought my plenum.

Thinking of getting their intake with elbow, but not sure how this affects filtration. MS intake advertises OE level of filtration.

Before I swipe the card, has anyone run into any reliability issues with the Eventuri plenum, especially those that have run the full kit for >20K+ miles?

These days if I were going for a carbon fiber intake, I'd be looking at the Partee Racing solution first. I would have a hard time considering others.

Their new mold system is very impressive too! If they put that much into R&D and are here in the US, they have my vote!
I was looking at another brand from over the water but I’ll be purchasing this one when I’m ready.
