coding for AMP replacement
My amp just gave up and I need to replace it with another amp.
From my research, I understood that the "new" unit needs to be coded to the car. Does anyone know what exctly needs to be coded? I am very familiar with INPA software and have coded multiple common things on DIY section but I cannot find information about coding unit replacement. Any help is appreciated. |

This is new to me, as I understand you can replace 1:1 with similar model.
if it is the HiFi system you have you can also go down the aftermarket road. |

One note though - for the hifi system it seems that BMW / LEAR incorporated some kind og sound processing / equalisation in the amplifiers since they have a car specific partnumber for them!

If you buy a amp from the exact same model as you then it's plug and play (no coding), but amps (of the same type) from different car types will need coding
For example: if you get a logic 7 amp from an x5 and put it into an e92, it will still have the coding for the x5 and the sound will be all over the place. Its pretty easy to do, just get the same type of amp and then install it (radio off), then use ncsexpert and load the correct profile, then look for the amp (in the cars module list), then dump the config, open with ncsdummy and code to your car and save (MAN) file, then code up to the module, job done.

I just purchased an amp from same year car with same part number, still doesn’t work. When I tried to debug in ISTA, it says
“The communication with the control unit RAD2-GW has been disrupted. The control unit must be connected. The ignition must be switched on or the PAD mode activatedThe communication with the control unit RAD2-GW has been disrupted. The control unit must be connected. The ignition must be switched on or the PAD mode activated” But the radio unit is on. Is it mean the head unit is not good? Thanks |

Then your problem is not the amp. I have swapped Individual amps at least 3-4x from other E92 M3s into my own E92 M3 and it is indeed plug and play, no coding needed even for different part number (diff generation amp). I have also tested Logic 7 amp from E92 M3 in my own Individual M3 and there is audio, but it sounds weird.
