Disabling Engine Start

Is there a single fuse that I can remove to disable engine start-up but still leave battery power to keep items like the clock from resetting?

At first I was thinking the starter relay...but where is that?

Hopefully someone has already experimented with this and knows.

Look for the higher amperage fuses in the engine group.. 04, 11.. etc

Should do the trick.

That's where I was planning on starting but I was hoping someone would know for sure so I wasn't just experimenting for the first time.

I'd have to look at the wiring diagrams and documentation, and the internet tethering from my hotel is painfully slow.

How about removing or disconnecting the start stop button? It's very easy to remove it.

Can you explain the purpose of wanting to do this? It might help with suggestions.

How easy is it to remove the button and just disconnect the connector in the back?

Purpose: quick solution for ensuring no joy rides happen if someone happens to have my key in their possession.

Yes removing the engine start stop button is easy but you would have to pop the center out to get to the back of it. You can't just pull it out or you'll break it.

It's fairly easy, the trim is in there pretty good but will pop out. I'd start by the start button, or you could pop it from the passenger side. Once the trim is out you will see how to release the start button. It will press out from the back and I think there is a little tab there.

Why not just take the key? If you have one of those coding cables I can put it in transport mode for you. A honda civic would pounce on you in that mode Will try to look at the diagrams tomorrow as time permits.

If you don't trust someone not to joyride in your car, why would you trust them with your key? If you have no choice but to trust them with your key (e.g. taking it in for service), presumably that's because they have to be able to start and move the car anyway?

Didn't they used to take out the fuse to the fuel pump to achieve this?
