Knocking noise from steering, is this normal?

I have a question and if someone can help me I would appreciate that very much

E93 M3 2012 31.000 km, without MDM and w/o EDC.

Since I bought this car it has steering knocking from steering rack, less noticeable when the car is cold and far more after for example after driving.

I replaced both tie rods, both sway bar stabilizers and still knocking. I bought new Lower joint + upper joint but didn't replaced it cause the axle must go down and cause the sound comes from steering rack. In driving is everything fine but when I hit a deep hole I can feel it on stering wheel, when driving slow for example over train I hear a pretty loud clicking from steering wheel/rack.

M3 owners, if you shake the steering wheel back and forth without the engine running and after a drive, do u hear a strong klicking noise from the engine?

If you shake the wheel back and forth when the engine is running, do u feel (and hear too) a little like empty space when the wheel is on 12'?

I am sorry for my bad english too

This is the sound after driving, the camera was on air filter.

Check my thread a year ago, I had the same issue and was told it was normal...i replaced the rack and all suspension components associated with it. Still there.

So one day I went into the dealership and saw a 2013 model. Went inside and shook the steering. Same noise.

The thread says to replace the steering assembly, which I havent done yet.

Nothing normal about that sound, my '08 doesn't have it. I would guess, you need a new column or at least get the one you reconditioned.

Not yet Identical sound..

I was till now in 2 bmw official service/repair shop and they said the rack is perfectly fine and I am imagining..lol

Before this I was at my mechanics and they said this is 1000% the rack. Cause when it gets hot the material stretches and there is a little play..I had the same issue 9-10 years ago on my E46 coupe, when was cold (first 20 mins after engine starting) and untill the joint gets very hot and stretches. After new joint was installed everything was fine. Howewer there was no clunk, only some free play and knocking from steering wheel instead steering rack.

I am thinking about installing new rack, 1400 €. But if this is not the rack fault, dont know then what to do..

I think it's my knuckle due to the temperatures being in negative's.... like someone said here the metal shrinks and there is some knocking when car is off... when running or when warm - no noise at all...
guys on here mentioned this is something I shouldn't worry about... should I just swap out this knuckle for peace of mind?
It does sound like it's coming form the knuckle when I have someone move the steering wheel for me...

All Screws in Front axle losen and pulled with right torque.
