To Front Lip OR not to Front Lip....

.... that is the question.

Considering the VRS or Status gruppe lip.

Curious if any of you had any regrets with a front lip addition to your M.

Neither are super aggressive but neither are OEM either which has generally been a rule of mine in the past when it came to body mods, stick with OEM.

Problem is, don't really care for the OEM splitters.

Am I overthinking this?

I don't think so. I'm in the same boat. Sorta. I don't care for splitters either but I dont like the flat lips either.

IMO lip only looks good if your wheels are flush and if you have a low stance. It looks really weird if you are stock height.

I had a FRP front lip that I got used from a forum member for really cheap that was really durable, but finally died. I haven't replaced it with anything because I'm also not a huge fan of splitters and I don't want to drop $$ on a carbon fiber lip that will eventually be destroyed.

Stock ZCP height and I feel like I scrape on everything.

Been going back and forth on doing this myself. I like the look on some of them but based on past experience on other cars I've moded, if u daily your car, it's a Pita, constant scrapping, rubbing and cracking :/

Loved my lip when I installed. 2nd day I cracked it lmao, I'm too low. Can't even get my shoe under my front lip. Looks great, but I struggle getting around. Mostly drive like a turtle haha.

Yea - I work from home so only put 2-3k miles on my car a year and a lot of those are highway miles.

Also don't generally drive in areas that would be susceptible to scraping on any regular basis.

I guess the main potential downsides to a front lip are scraping/damage... loss of $$ spent AND some left over screw holes in your bumper if you pull it off.

The front end just needs something to give it a more sporty look, esp on the e90. Guess Im gonna take the plunge...

Im not a fan of the full front lip. mine came with CF splitters and I do not think I could go without them. Without splitters, the front looks a little empty.

How much do the splitters actually add? They have always seemed to me to be little more than CF covers for what's already there, but maybe I'm missing something.

Polyurethane only. It's lasted many years now.

Vorsteiner, I always pay to play...replicas out there are nice for the savings, but when you buy an M3 you know what you are signing up for, we all have personal preferences and decide on how we spend our $$$. Fitment is spot on. had it over 8 months and helps to have ZCP height to avoid with speed bumps around town. It has Ceramic Coating which helps with keeping it clean.

They extend down and out, similar to the E46 / E46 CSL.

Do you have a side shot? How much lower do you think they are from stock 1-2inches?

My guess is the stock splitters actually improve aerodynamics, but beyond that I just don't get the look they were going for with them.

I guess I maybe like them over stock, I dunno.

I wish there was a subtle continuous OEM lip option. The splitters do nothing for me.

Do they look better in person?

Definitely get a lip. You only drive 2-3K miles a year. The car needs to be lowered to pull the look off. I like this lip (not my car), its a Status Gruppe lip over in the cosmetic section of this forum. Looks like it sits a bit higher and tighter to the car so scraping / rubbing would be at a minimum.

I have a Mode carbon V1 and it sits low but I only drive the car 2K miles a year so i'm very careful....

Yep - thought I mentioned on the OP this was one of my top contenders.

That is a great looking lip that isn't too aggressive.

Minimal on the lower, maybe 1/2 inch. Does go out about an inch more. Bad side shots, sorry.
