put in my vin in safercar.gov but can't see this recall (only the airbag).

anyone know what's the deal with this recall?

They added the M3 to the affected vehicles list within the past 6 months I believe.

Some e9x m cars have this issue where the battery cable starts to have issues bringing power to the vehicle. Results in random loss of all power. Sometimes shaking the fuse box helps.

My car was in for routine maintenance last week and they did the recall -- first I had heard about it as well.

My service advisor said something about the cable corroding and causing an intermittent connection, and that the notices were only just starting to go out.

I just checked my 2008 E90 M3 in BMWs system, and the recall doesn't show for my VIN.

I called BMW of North America some time last week to check the status on the air bag recall and it seems like that's the only outstanding warranty item on the car. Maybe the previous owner got it done?

had my car in for oil change.
My SA told me they were performing this recall after oil change was done.
However they couldn't finish the job in time

, i had to drive home with a rental car.

It is not an official recall so it doesn't show up in the system as such. And it is limited to production dates from December '09 to April '11. This is the SIB my dealer showed me covering my Sept '10 car...

Thanks for uploading the bulletin.
I am not affected (2013 MY). This looks like it would also cause faster discharge of the battery. The battery Power management and monitoring IC will detect the short and disconnect momentarily but never instantly, this could hurt battery life.

My E90 was built during those dates. I'll call the dealer tomorrow.

What has to come off the car for them to do this recall?

I believe they need to get through the clove box as it is behind it where the fuse box is. Not sure if they need to pull off the clove box or not but it takes a couple of hours to change it.

I had this done last week. I dropped the car off at about 9am and picked it up around 3pm. I was not experiencing any power fluctuation problems, but you may as well do it since it's free.

Good for you! Plus your VIN is now off the recall list as well. I need to schedule the appointment soon.
