What do you guys make of the howling noise as my car goes by. Doesn't matter what track or which tires.

In my experience, "true heel-toe" is rarely used. Almost everyone I know uses more of the side of their foot than the heel, myself included. But it's really just semantics. Do whatever works for you, there is no "best practice" in that regard.
The only time I use the true heal and toe is going down to 2nd gear at COTA. The blip has to be much harder than going down into 3rd and I still can't get it right half the time.

1750 roll race, at less than 65 mph take off, what top speed could I be looking at? (any roll race/drag calculators out there?)

I remember chatting with someone here about what gear i should be in, but that was for 55 mph if I remember, suggestion on 65 mph?

Have you ever thought about getting an auto-blip? Everyone swears by those things.

My SMG car could use it. Having to heel toe that pos at COTA just didn’t feel right.

A manual conversion would fix that better

actually, not going to get a helmet as a gift... since he should really try them on himself and go with what he likes best
but i'd still like to get some recommendations for stores for gear
i may just get him some gloves + gift card
Werkz2 in Burbank. Appointment only I think.

In the spirit of the Democratic debates I think we all could show a little more tolerance for those of us not as "skilled". Instead of a vicious personal attack such as "auto-blip is for talentless assclowns" perhaps we can make these people feel more welcome here? Perhaps "electronically assisted revolution synchronization is highly beneficial for skill challenged anal miscreants, and that's ok!" might be a better way to them more comfortable?

You mean what sounds like tire squeal? I can't hear anything out of the ordinary. What tires are you running?

As the car goes by you can hear a howling or whiring noise. Hard to describe but my car is the only M3 at the track doing it. Those tires are RE71R's.

Why are you guys so vehemently against auto-blip? Spare me the elitist "heel toe is a sign of true skill" crap. Rev-matching is one more thing I don't want to be dealing with on track.

I don't think it's elitist to hold a view that, for some, part of the experience is to apply various driving skills such as heel toe (and threshold braking and nanny free car control).

I am ok with ABS and paddle shifters but I hold drivers that run with TC off above those that keep it on. It masks poor car control. At least it did for me when I was transitioning from off to on.

I guess I am saying we all have a mental checklist of what constitutes a "true driver."
