Yeah the other board claims otherwise and I believe him. I'm hoping the time its taking is being spent on designing jigs and such for building production kits in-house.
However, I think we are far enough along that they won't be able to sell many at its original pricepoint. For me to consider it, it will need to be down in the <$15k range as all the top-end blower kits have plummented in price.

Id be too scared to buy the kit case the torque would eat my DCT gearbox but its a shame if it has died cause it would of been a good kit

The disparity between manuals and DCTs will narrow a bit with a turbo option. The gear selection on the manual is just terrible for a stock S65 (and even a supercharged one). But a turbo S65 with a much wider powerband will fare far better.

We looked at designing our own turbo kit on my car. But when we looked at it, we concluded we couldn't scavenge the heat properly, so I never let the project get any further. I said there was no point in developing a kit just for the sake of making one if we couldn't do it properly. That was our conclusion. You mileage may vary. |

it's the one that nobody goes to because the mod is a tool. gintani makes amazing products but this kit will never surface and will not be mass produced. it's three years too late.

You concluded it couldn't scavenge the heat properly? Maybe not as well as an OEM design might (which I totally understand if that was the goal), but aftermarket level? There's plenty of room for twins running log-style manifolds or even a front-mounted single. The placement of superchargers would be a perfect place for a large exhaust A/R twin-scroll single to sit. The work would be pricey for sure as it would need a lot of time to build to fit properly, but the room is there. If the N54 kids can fit a top-mount twin-scroll 6466 (which was also deemed impossible by several then-respected members of the N54 community) then the S65 can fit one too. I still think the biggest hangup is the tuning in the DME. Whether there's just not enough eyes looking at it due to unavailability to the 'amateur' tuner or the DME is so restrictive in what it allows; I believe that is what is holding the platform back. Perhaps a ProEFI unit or the AEM Infinity (or whatever it's name is) needs to be ported over I'm not sure DCT cars would be capable for that kind of work due to the transmission controller, but the GTR guys upgrade their ECUs eventually.

Alex tuned it already. I sat and rode in the car, it was incredible I must admit. There were no hiccups whatsoever. Heat perhaps may be an issue but he drove the hell out of it and it didn't limp

Maybe but that board is much more technical than this board where all people talk about is bearings and exhaust.

That board is filled with drag race and street racing videos. That's not technical content to me and just as boring as talking about lips, and painted reflectors. Last edited by regular guy; 06-05-2015 at 12:18 PM.. |

What I don't understand is why they jumped ship from the S65 and showed S85 manifolds on their FB page a bit ago. And I'd be amenable to a big single, too. I won't complain about twins, though *lol*.
What is extremely frustrating, though, is I've done all the supporting mods in preparation for FI. I'm almost finished with the car being exactly what I want it to be, minus a couple small things, and F.I. I hate the thought of picking up a s/c'er and then the TT kit comes out, which would necessitate trying to sell the s/c'er and acquire the TT kit. Decisions, decisions. |
