That is just stupid! What dumb rich redneck hillbilly paid $1,000,000 for a chevy? A pushrod V-8 chevy no less. It is a nice car, but not all that it is being hyped to be. You could throw a supercharger on pretty much any big V8 and make big power. For $8700 on top of a Z06, you can push 630 horses through Lingenfelter. Take the pile of money that you saved from that and spend it on weight reduction and suspension modifications.

ZR1=Fast car, but grossly overhyped by the US press.

the winning bid was going to be actually $900,000, then the guy raised his own bid 1 second before winning to $1 million. I guess he just wanted to say he paid a mil for a vette.

Every one of those 1 million dollars are tax deductable, so if you were going to donate that money anyway why not get the first production ZR-1?

At BJ the first (of the new) production Shelby GT500's went for $600K (If my memory is correct), so $1 mill seems about right. No surprise here.

oh, yeah, right.

they also say for every $1 to charity, $0.90 goes to overhead and administration.

I can understand if it was for charity. That is a VERY nice benny for a $900,000 charitible donation write off. Basically, that is like a free ZR1.

They are really skimming 90% on overhead and admin fees? That is just criminal, and should be investigated by the feds. No, really!

Why do people get confused when rich people spend their money? So what if someone spend $1,000,000 on a car? Its his money to spend the way he wants and until you walk a mile in his shoes you just don't know.

not confused by rich people spending money. thats why there are mark ups on brand new cars such as the R8. some can afford to be first and an extra 40k is not big deal. its the market.

that's not a charity, that's a scam. most legit charities would be nowhere near that number.

the united way for instance has overhead of around 15%.
