Question Anyone a member of Dallas MotorSport Ranch?

https://www.motorsportranch.com/

Or has anyone driven it extensively? Had some questions and wanted to hear your experiences.

I’ve been out there quite a bit running with HPDE schools.

What do you want to know? It’s a great track by the way.

Looking at relocating to Dallas later this year but there doesn't seem to be nearly as many tracks nearby as I have right now in Chicago. The ranch looks really similar to Autobahn Country Club which I frequent, and the price to join is pretty affordable for whenever I feel like going out there for a few hours.

Dallas has 4-5 decent tracks within a four-hour drive, and MSR in Cresson is my favorite. The others are Hallett, MSR Houston, COTA and Eagles Canyon (last on the list but new owners are supposed to be updating). MSR In Cresson has two configurations, the older 1.7 which is great in both directions, and the 3.1 which is run CCW. Plenty of weekend HPDE opportunities if you don't want to become a member immediately.

Feel free to PM me or respond here if you have questions. Search YouTube for vids - you watched one of mine last week.

Good to know there's other choices, but joining Dallas MSR looks tempting.

COTA isn't terribly far but is insanely expensive and has a weird reputation for eating engines. I might do it once or twice as a bucket list thing.

MSR Cresson is the best track in Texas in my opinion. TWS was (RIP). COTA is a bucket list track and many of my friends (that instruct) enjoy it. However, I don't rate it very high on my list. I was a member at MSR Houston before I moved to Louisiana. It's a good track. Basically 4 straights with some autocross sections connecting them together. I have not done Harris Hill or Eagles Canyon. Hallett is about 5 hours away from Dallas. It's one of my favorite tracks. It's short but flows very well.

MSR 3.1 configuration is awesome. Good elevation changes and a nice variety of turns.

You can occasionally get on the 1.3 mile section and it’s very fun. Best part of the track and can get 15 to 20 laps in a session.

MSR is nice. The 1.7 is really easy to learn and mostly about speed. The 1.4 side of the 3.1 is more technical. As a whole, it's quite fun. Lots of run off. And for being in north Texas parts of the track have decent elevation changes. Lots of clubs run there so plenty of affordable opportunities to track it.

MSRC is far better then eagles canyon but eagles canyon is having a great deal going. Don't quote me on this but I heard 2 or 3k sign up then 300$ a month with just about every weekend open to run sat and Sunday unless they have a event going. Running at eagles with the Scca TT event 7/21 should be fun!

Fuck, that's an awesome price. $300 is what I typically pay for one track day here in Chicago, and I usually do at least two a month.

Ran at Eagles Canyon today with SCCA TT and talked with one of the owners. He said right now the fee is 2500$ with 200$ a month. The track is about to be completely torn apart and repaved with a new design. He said should be done around Oct to Nov, and price will go up. He would not say the exact number and did say they are going to have 3 different configurations. Sound like a great time to jump in I myself was very interested. Also you can sell the membership, which im sure i could sell for 5000$ maybe in a year or so depending on the price they are raising it to.

MSR 3.1 is my favorite track layout. I find it to be the trickiest track I've driven besides the Nürburgring. I can't wait to drive it again...hopefully this Oct!
