Have you had any issues with the phone bouncing around or sliding out of the tray?

Nope it's pretty deep and sturdy. I wouldn't want to try it at the track but I think you'd have to nail something gnarly for the phone to fly out.

Never. It fits ver snug and doesn't have much room to move anyways.

For anyone looking to DIY this, it's actually called an oddments tray

Mfg Part #
51169198283

I initially ordered a sunglass tray that has the cover and that wouldn't work unless you have a smaller phone

INDUCTIV wireless charger

Got around to installing the charger the other day. Nice clean look, and really upgrades the car to todays standards. This was especially nice, since I have the CarPlay MMI Prime, it shows that the phone is charging with a lightning bolt through the battery on the center display.

For my install since I already had the cigarette lighter, it was a very simple plug and play installation. The only fussing around I had to do was centering the tray in the center console since there is some clearance in the mounting holes. All in all, very happy with this purchase.

I bought it straight from INDUCTIV so they drilled and mounted the charger in the tray and shipped it preassembled. I had to send them a picture of the ashtray to that they send me the correct length wiring harness.

It should be OK depending on your case. I have an S20+ with a fairly thick plastic case and it fits fine. I think as long as you aren't using an otterbox or something giant you'll be OK and fine if your device is naked.

Should also be fine. My Galaxy S20+ with the case is 3.15" wide and fits with room to spare.. The iPhone sans case says its 3.07"

Most phones have grown heavily in length, not so much width.

Yes it fits. Only .1" taller than the 11 pro max.

Question

Any known issues with having the iPhone on the wireless charger while simultaneously connected to USB port of a CarPlay 'box'?

Installed and tested with iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Hard to get a consistent active charge and even if I hold the phone steady, seems like there’s no sufficient power. I ended up running out of battery on my phone.
Anyone having the same experience?
Thanks!

Never. Always gained about 1% per minute on average.

Are you sure it's charging? The only thing I've noticed is depending on which way face my iPhone X if it slides too far over it will stop charging because it's not centered. If I rotate it 180 then it's usually fine.

Check to make sure the device is actually getting power and not sliding around.

Do you have a bulky case by any chance? The further the device is away from the coil the slower the charge will be if you have an Otterbox or something like that.

Regular clear apple case with MagSafe.
It’s intermittent in one way, rotating 180° gets it completely off.
Holding it in a position that charges constantly, seems like there’s no sufficient power to charge. 12 Pro Max is a hungry fellow, way more than any other model.

I spoke with Mike (Induktiv). I’ll ship my unit back for him to check.

Hmm yeah I know the 12 gets a much higher power charger than what this unit can provide. Though it sounds like if it's getting an intermittent connection that may be part of the problem. Charging slow AND intermittently certainly isn't good.

It's definitely not a fast charger, but I've taken long trips while streaming music through Carplay and GPS/Waze on my iPhone X and it's enough to give it a slow charge in it's hungriest of modes.

alwaysgoing - Certainly interested in hearing your findings/feedback from Mike @ Induktiv.

Just purchased a unit [not installed yet]. I too have an iPhone 12 Pro.

Planning an extended road trip, so 'actual charge' performance a bit more important than everyday drives.

It may be, Indktiv current power spec/wattage requires an upgrade/bump for these 'power hungry' late model phones.

He's probably sending a replacement unit for me later this week, I'll update here!
Took some time since he was doing some tests with an iPhone 12 Pro Max there. Apparently I have a defective unit.
Also, he's selling those like water in the desert.
Let me know how yours is performing!

Sounds good, let's hope your issue is resolved by replacement due to a defective unit.

My Whip in the shop for body work/mods, so a couple weeks before I install and test.
