Next Porsche GT2 Assaults The Nurburgring [video]

Quote:
The forthcoming 997-generation Porsche GT2 has been spotted testing at the Nurburgring. And, if it looks quick it’s because it is quick. The new GT2 will reportedly be able to sprint from 0-100 km/h in just three-seconds and already has a recorded Nordschleife lap time of seven minutes and eighteen seconds.

It's ridiculous how the thing holds onto the road at any speed.

Having driven the last GT2, this thing is going to be ungodly. The 997 GT2 was brutally fast, the 991 wel,l I'm looking forward to getting my seat time in it.

This might be too close to the 918 Spyder performance wise if the current GT3 and Turbo S are any indication. I wonder what kind of adhesive they put on the tires, plain ridiculous how glued it is.

0-60 less than 3 sec. 7:08 ring time.

Definitely puts some super cars to shame.

Speaking of the 918. Back in July my younger brother and I were cruising around Marina del Rey in the morning going to breakfast when this badass M-Fer pulled up along side us. We had the top down and all I could do was point, and my brother just yelled "follow it!"

Drove along side it for a while and then we went down a long Cul de Sac where we turned around and he hammered that beast. It sounds amazing!! Like a Le Mans car on the street and its ungodly fast!

That's Dr Frank Walliser who is the head of the 918 project in the drivers seat, he was very happy that we were excited to see this car.

Great cars, but not supercars, and definitely not worth the price, at least to me. Porsche's price creep is getting ridiculous.

They are still sports car but with supercar performance.

The GT3 and GT2 are going to put everything to shame on an even grander scale than the 991S/4S have/are.

Porsche to me is the Ultimate Driving Maching. Its usable in almost all weather conditions (especially with AWD), can be daily driven reliably (Ferrari, Lambo can't say that), and are seriously competitive on track in their factory form down to the base models.

This thing looks crazy fast!

But i wonder if this is really a GT2 because of the induction noise and high revs?
Former GT2/GT2RS sounds similar to the Turbo models and has that turbocharger muffling effect ,this sounds really good more like a GT3 maybe it is a GT3RS prototype?
Would be cool though if Porsche could get the next GT2/GT2RS turbo engines to rev and sound more like the natural aspiration GT3/GT3RS engines.

The car on the video is not a GT2 even though the tittle says it. It's a mule from the new GT3RS which shares the same extra wide body as the new turbo. Car still with old aero, but the NA sound is pretty clear as well as the exhaust exit in the center.
